Baron pit (League of Legends)Baron pit (League of Legends)
Baron pit (Wild Rift)Baron pit (Wild Rift)

The baron pit is one of the game's most unique jungle camps on Summoner's Rift icon Summoner's Rift. The occupants serve as a neutral objective that is meant to rival the importance of camps that appear in the dragon pit. The camps spawned in the baron pit are static throughout a game of League of Legends.

One of three epic Monster icon monster camps may occupy the baron pit at any one time and in this order:

Prior to V5.22, Baron Nashor Baron Nashor was the sole occupant of the baron pit and there was generally no need to distinguish the camp from the monster in terms of gameplay. With the introduction of The Voidgrubs The Voidgrubs and the pit altering terrain in V14.1, it became necessary to document the objective separately. Since Baron Nashor was the only monster in the pit once and is to this day the most powerful monster out of all that spawn here, the baron pit holds this namesake by convention.

Game Mechanics[]

Spawn[]

The three monsters enter and exit the baron pit at specific game times.

  • The Voidgrubs Voidgrubs spawn at 5 minutes and despawn at exactly 13:45, or 13:55 if in combat. The camp consists of three Voidgrubs that periodically spawn waves of Voidmites Voidmites during combat. Each Voidgrub has an individual respawn timer of 4 minutes, for a maximum of six Voidgrubs throughout a given game.
  • The Rift Herald Rift Herald spawns at 14 minutes and despawns at exactly 19:45, or 19:55 if in combat.
  • Baron Nashor Baron Nashor spawns at 20 minutes and has a respawn timer of 6 minutes. With its spawn, the map becomes permanently Corrupted by the Void.

Corrupted Rift[]

Alongside Baron Nashor's Baron Nashor's first spawn, parts of Summoner's Rift and especially the baron pit assume a deep purple and fissured texture (matching the likeness of the Void Crest icon Void). All newly-spawned Rift Scuttler Rift Scuttler, Blue Sentinel Blue Sentinel and Red Brambleback Red Brambleback monsters after Baron Nashor Baron Nashor arrives become corrupted by the Void for the rest of the game. Corrupted monsters gain increased durability and improved effects when slain.

Baron Nashor Baron Nashor may spawn in one of three forms, determined at random and persisting from the first spawn throughout the game. The baron pit's terrain may be altered dramatically based on Baron Nashor's form. Each form also has unique special attacks.

This form does not change the terrain of the pit.

Territorial Baron pit

This form inverts the pit's front arches and establishes a small crescent wall in front of the pit.

All-Seeing Baron pit

This form narrows the front entrance greatly but creates a very wide tunnel laterally, which extends from the toplane tribush (on regular ground) toward the midlane (on river ground).

The Corrupted Red Brambleback Red Brambleback and Blue Sentinel Blue Sentinel gain 30% increased Champions killed with Comeuppance (R)health. Once slain, their respective buff is granted to all teammates currently alive, instead of only their killer. In turn, the buffs are no longer transferred to the killer if their holder is slain.

The Corrupted Rift Scuttler Rift Scuttler also gains 30% increased Champions killed with Comeuppance (R)health. Void energy is released around the area where she is slain, True Sight icon revealing champions for 3 seconds and non-champions for 12 seconds, and reducing the health of all revealed Ward icon wards to 1.

History[]

Trivia[]

  • While in combat with one of the three epic monster camps in the baron pit, the default Summoner's Rift theme changes to that camp's theme instead.
