Dragoon is a large, colorful machine with a bird-like design including multicolored "feather" pieces on its back, red designs on its main body and talons on either side.
General Information[]
The Dragoon can only be ridden in City Trial mode, where a player must collect its three pieces from Red Boxes scattered throughout the city. The three pieces then merge to create Dragoon, which replaces whatever Air Machine the player was riding.
To access it in Free Run, the player must reach 1000 feet in High Jump, glide 1300 feet in Air Glider, and fly through 5 of the floating rings in one City Trial match. It tops the Winged Star in flight and is one of the legendary stars along with Hydra. It has great performance across all stats and has the best flight abilities of any machine in the game.
The Dragoon appears as an item in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Like in Kirby Air Ride, characters are required to pick up all three pieces: the nose cone, the body, and the tail. The pieces can be stolen from other players by attacking them, and it is fought for in a similar matter to the Smash Ball (because it is high priority among the CPUs). When the Machine is completed, the player can select a target and launch themselves at it, although the player only has until the tenth beep before the attack automatically launches. Because of the amount of preparation required, it boasts tremendous firepower; if it strikes a character, it is usually a one-hit KO. The Dragoon gets a trophy, as do all the other items.
In the Subspace Emissary, Kirby uses this Air Ride Machine to pierce through the Subspace Gunship, effectively destroying it and allowing him and the rest of his companions access to Subspace.
Spirit battle
Dragoon also appears as a Legend-class support spirit in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. When applied to a fighter, he/she will deal more damage to giant foes.
Legendary Air Ride Machines are the Dragoon and Hydra, both first-in-class rides. They must be unlocked beforehand and are only available in City Trial mode.
This legendary machine rips through the sky like a hot knife through butter! It's been said that this machine resembles a phoenix when it's slicing up the sky at unimaginable top speeds!”
An attack-capable Air Ride machine you can assemble by combining parts A, B, and C. You can knock off parts held by foes in combat, so stealing parts is something that's sure to occur. In Kirby Air Ride, you control legendary machines, but the Dragoon not only towers above all others in terms of speed, it is also able to fly.”
It is said that if you collect all three parts, you will complete the legendary Air Ride machine...”
— Official Super Smash Bros. Brawl website
“
Collect parts A, B, and C to assemble the legendary Air Ride machine known as the Dragoon. Take careful aim, and then ride it toward your target. A hit will send enemies flying out of the battle. Taking damage before you've collected all the parts can knock them from your grasp, however.”
In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, when a Ditto copies a fighter, the Dragoon parts it collects will be stored in its own pool rather than the summoner's where it will keep them until it despawns which also despawns the parts as well. If it collects all three parts, however, the AI will typically wait out the attack timer instead of targeting another player.
