The power struggle that existed within the Kengan Association prior to the most recent Annihilation Tournament
The Kengan Association consists of illustrious business owners, large corporations and influential people with the current number of Association members resting at 418.[1][2][3] The are a number of factions within the Kengan Association with the three largest being the Four Dragons, the Society of a Hundred and the Three Nobles.[4]
Chairman[]
The Kengan Association has been led by a Chairman since its inception. The Chairman has massive power within the Kengan Association, being the only one who may set the rules of the matches and other bylaws of the Association, and usually has more power and wealth than any other Association member. The Chairman is also the one who decides on the format and rules for his own replacement (usually by a tournament). As noted by Atami Hisashi, the change of Chairman can cause a major shift in the balance and system of the Kengan Association.[5]

The Society of a Hundred is the largest and one of the most recent factions to appear in the Kengan Association as well as the faction that has been gaining the most influence in recent times.[4] The Society of a Hundred is fundamentally different from the other factions, as it is more like a pyramidal hierarchy with Hayami Katsumasa at the top.[4]
