In the wake of Apollogeist's defeat, it was originally planned to introduce a new G.O.D. executive named Black Mars (ブラックマルス, Burakku Marusu). However, the unforseen popularity of Apollogeist changed the course of the series and this character was scrapped.[1]

Mirroring Apollogeist himself as well as the Shinwakaijin, Mars is the name of the Roman god of war and counterpart to the Greek god Ares.
