Mateo is a supporting character in Jurassic World: Chaos Theory. He is a Department of Prehistoric Wildlife truck driver who quit his job after getting Brooklynn seemingly killed.
History[]
Background[]
Mateo worked as a truck driver from DPW transporting dinosaurs. During his job, a stranger told him on the phone that he could earn money in exchange for transporting dinosaurs and unloading them into another truck. Although he was getting money, Mateo doubted he could be doing any harm and hoped to save money for his daughter Hiraya to go to college.
When he arrived one night with an Allosaurus, he was alone with no other trucks. He found it strange and even more so when he noticed that the dinosaur he was transporting was not sedated and the lock opened on its own, freeing it. He hid in some bushes to avoid it, until the Allosaurus left upon hearing something. Mateo witnessed the dinosaur chasing Brooklynn while he was still hiding, being very shocked and scared that it was happening. As he left, he noticed blood on the road, which made him believe that the Allosaurus had killed the young woman, finding her phone ringing, just as Darius Bowman arrived. Mateo panicked when he saw that he had won more money for the young woman's death.
He remained in the DPW for some time, but decided to give up, feeling guilt striken about what had happened. Then he set out to do the right thing, he tried to locate the Nublar Six, and although it took him a long time, because he was not very good with the internet, his daughter Hiraya helped him find them.

Halfway Home & That Night[]
Mateo eventually located Darius and Kenji Kon, saving them from the Atrociraptors. As they drove away, they ordered him to stop, because Kenji was very devastated by his father's death.
As Mateo tries to tell them to quickly get into the car before the strange woman and her raptors arrive, Darius immediately recognizes him because he was there the night Brooklynn died. Kenji grabs him angrily, thinking that he is responsible for killing Brooklynn and his father, but Mateo admits that he had nothing to do with his father's death and that the Allosaurus that killed his friend was not loose. He promises to tell them everything in the car, and Darius and Kenji agree anyway. While driving, Mateo tells the two about his job at the DPW and how someone had unknowingly sent him to kill Brooklynn. He then gives them their friend's phone, which he had kept since the incident.
Still in the car on the road, Darius and Kenji discover that Brooklynn had an apartment they didn't know about and Mateo takes them there. When they arrive they thank him for saving them and Mateo apologizes for getting involved and says goodbye.
The End of the Beginning[]
Later, Mateo decided to return with them, feeling that he had abandoned them, he managed to locate them at the dock and enter with a truck, leaving the Atrociraptor Handler unconscious, and saving the Nublar Six. With them he manages to avoid the dinosaurs that were released from their cages. When he sees the woman preparing to attack them, he is extremely fearful. However, with the the woman and her raptors disappear when they hear the authorities coming. After Darius and his friends decide to board the ship to find out who is hunting them, Ben entrusts Mateo with the care of his Ankylosaurus Bumpy and her egg.
