Mark Degler was Ellie Degler's husband during the events of Jurassic Park III. It is unknown when his relationship with Ellie started, but in 1998 their first child Charlie was born. In 2001, they had a baby whose name and gender is unknown.

History[]

Jurassic Park III[]

Mark works for the State Department. Ellie used this connection to send the U.S. Marines and Navy to Isla Sorna to save Alan Grant and the others during the rescue of Eric Kirby in 2001.

Jurassic World: Dominion[]

By 2022, Ellie and Mark have divorced for unknown reasons and Ellie renews her relationship with Alan following the Biosyn Incident.

Inspiration[]

Mark Degler has a parallel in the The Lost World novel. In the novels, Ellie Sattler married Dr. Reiman, a physicist from Berkeley. They married in 1990, one year after the events of the first novel. By 1995, they had two children. It is unknown if this subplot from the novels inspired the break up of Alan and Ellie in the film canon.
