Thank you Pop up Balcony Card for JAI #690

Happy Friday and welcome! It is incredible to think that February is almost over already and the mornings are starting to get darker - despite the very hot day here in Melbourne yesterday. It was a good excuse to stay inside out of the heat and do some crafting.

This week's Just Add Ink Challenge is from Tristan and she has asked us to Just Add a Fancy Fold. The design team had a lot of fun with this one and you'll see that in all the fun cards that we created and we hope that you will be inspired to join us too.

For my card, I had a recipient and theme in mind - I was needing a thank you card for a dog trainer.
As they've trained a lot of Labradors, the Happy Tails set and co-ordinating punch was the obvious choice of stamp set. The Labs were all coloured with Copics and there are different versions of them all to represent both yellow and red labs as well as how they each have slightly different fur colour combinations.

For the design, I want to thank Lisa Curcio for her Balcony Pop Up card.  I did add another level to help fit in all the Lab's I'd coloured so my card's mechanism is quite thick. Because of this, I recommend gifting this card in person but if you're following the original design with only two pop up balconies, then you should be able to mail this just fine.

The above picture is just to show you that us design team members can have bloopers too!
The top Lab (coloured with a pink collar to represent Sally of course) was obviously laughing too hard at a joke one of her friends told her as she started to fall off her perch.....oh the challenges of taking photos of a card with many elements! LOL!

Thanks for stopping by today, and I hope that you are able to pop on over to  Just Add Ink to see the challenge details and I hope that you might be inspired to join us and create a fun, Fancy Fold card.

"Til next time,

JAI #581 Legs and Thank You

Happy Friday and welcome! Here in Victoria life is slowly returning to a new normal after all of our weeks of lockdown. Finally I got to catch up with some lovely friends we have been missing and we are able to take our masks off outside. We are still being cautious and careful but so far so good.

This week at Just Add Ink, the lovely Lou has asked that we add Legs to our projects! How cool is that?!! Whether that be human, animal, insect or anything in between, any legs will do and we'd love to see them all!! Our design team have created a fabulous array of legs of all kinds to inspire you so I hope you might pop on over and come and join in the challenge with us!

I was needing a "thank you" card and so for my "legs" element I brought out the fun and retired Kangaroo and Company stamp set. Coloured with Copics and Blends the Roo and flowers are paired together with a little bit of sparkle and shine. The colours are hard to show sometimes but the colours below are a more true reflection of the card.

Inks: Majenta Madness, Momento Tuxedo Black, Blends: Lovely Lipstick, Shaded Spruce. Copics

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you are inspired to stop by the challenge blog and I look forward to seeing what you will create for this very fun and creative challenge!

'Til next time,

Just Add Ink #521 Inspiration Birthday

Happy Friday everyone and welcome back again! It's the first week of Spring and the signs are plenty - the sun is up earlier in the morning, it's getting lovely and warm on our daily walks and the trees are all in beautiful blossom here in Melbourne.

It's time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink and this week Rachael has suggested this gorgeous Inspiration Photo for us all to use. With the soft florals and greenery and touches of copper there is much to love and you can take as little or as much as you like to create your project. The design team has as always created a diverse array of projects and we'd love you to join us.

I loved the look of that single white floaty bloom surrounded by the greenery and copper details. So I started with vellum and die cut the bloom and used Blends to add a little colour to the back of the petals.
Then there was layering of the leaves and copper elements but paired back to keep it clean.

To be able to pop the greenery under the vellum petals without being seen, a layer of white card was added underneath the vellum. There is also a small shadow coloured around the flower too. You could easily change the sentiment here to fit many occasions - Christmas or even Sympathy but as it's Spring, I decided to go with Birthday.

Card stock: Pretty Peacock, Whisper White, Vellum, Garden Green, Coastal Cabana, Copper Foil
Designer Series Paper: Retired Xmas copper foil Specialty
Inks: Versamark, Blends: Calypso Coral L, Petal Pink Combo
Stamps: Painted Poppies, Peaceful Moments
Accessories: Die Cutting Machine, Poppies Stitched Rectangles, Sunflower Dies, Gold Faceted Gems

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you can pop over to Just Add Ink and I look forward to seeing what you will create inspired by this beautiful photo this week.

Til next time,

Jan

JAI #494 Thank you Poppies

Happy Friday everyone and welcome! The year is speeding on and it's hard to believe that February is nearly behind us already. Although with a Leap Year upon us we do have an extra day to use this weekend.

Image may contain: possible text that says 'Join the challenge! Just Add Ink just-add-ink.blogspot.com Smoky Slate Petal Pink Soft Sea Foam Colour Challenge #494'

At Just Add Ink this week we have a soft and pretty colour combo from Di for us all to use in our craft projects. Our design team had a lot of fun with this that you can see by all the different themes and images we have to give you inspiration and we would love you to join us.

I found these colours perfect for a floral "thank you"card and used Blends to colour the blooms and then stamped and die cut the leaf images. The grungy background is created by using another of the stamps in the Painted Poppies stamp set. So lovely that this set has a mixture of focal images and some grungy background texture additions too!

Card stock: Smoky Slate, Whisper White, Soft Sea Foam, Basic Black
Ink: Smoky Slate, Soft Sea Foam, Momento Tuxedo Black, Versamark
Stamps: Painted Poppies, Peaceful Moments
Accessories: Big Shot, Blends (Petal Pink), Wink of Stella, White EP, Metallic Sequins

Thanks for popping by today and I hope you will take a moment to pop on over to Just Add Ink and I look forward to seeing what you will create with these soft colours too.

 Until next time,
Jan

Hello everyone and welcome to a very special Just Add Ink challenge!!
For our first challenge of 2020 we are celebrating 10 years of JAI challenges and also reaching 1000+ followers. Both are such wonderful milestones to achieve and we are so grateful to everyone who has contributed along the way. From our inspirational challenge creators and previous design team members to you, our weekly participants. We hope to continue to inspire you to join with us in the years ahead.

You may have arrived here from the lovely Kim Badelt's blog and her stunning project or be beginning the Blog Hop here. Welcome!! You can continue to hop around the team's projects using the Next button's at the bottom of each post and we hope that you will be inspired to join with us this week. The theme for this week's challenge is "Celebrate".
As part of our milestone celebrations the design team are offering prizes. Our Top Pick & Honourable Mentions will receive a special gift.  We'll be choosing some other entries to receive a little something also - to be eligible all you have to do is leave a comment on each of the blogs along the hop - 14 stops in total. Prizes include stamp sets, card kits, embossing folders, ribbons, rhinestones, handmade cards/tags....

For my card I decided to create a Birthday card in honour of the Celebratory theme this week!
I used stamps to colour both the blooms and leaves of the Painted Poppies set and also to create the background.

This was my first play with the Painted Poppies set and although there are dies for the blooms, I decided to fussy cut them as well to reduce the amount of white border on the edges and allow the colours to really pop.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are enjoying seeing the first Just Add Ink challenge of the year and design team BlogHop. Now it is time to Hop on over to see Rachael and her fabulous projects that I know you will love. See you again soon!
