Ivor Lambert was a fictional former-astronautical engineer and roboticist associated with Italian spymaster, Ferenc Kress. The character served as an antagonist in the James Bond comic strip, Fear Face, which ran in The Daily Express newspapers between January 18 and April 20, 1971.
Biography[]
Lambert was an engineer at Technotron, Ltd., a company that experimented with robotics for the U.S. space program. He was heavily involved in the creation of their remote control (or, telefactoring) systems, and after he left the firm, he used a prototype robot to vengefully murder a stripper in Soho, London. He was subsequently enlisted by spymaster Ferenc Kress to help him steal mining maps for the disgruntled mining chairman, Sir William Magnus. Lambert built a life-like robot and used it to infiltrate Magnus Mining; making a video recording of the maps before self-destructing. Kress had previously leaked Lambert's name to MI6 in a bid to distract them from the true perpetrator of the theft; however, after assessing the roboticist's value he decided instead to double-cross Magnus, preserving Lambert and keeping the maps for his own profit.
Intelligence operatives James Bond and Briony Thorne followed the trail of clues to Lambert's consultancy firm. However, the pair of villains were waiting for them - largely thanks to Lambert's technical ingenuity. The spies were bound, gagged and left in Lambert's care. Magnus arrived shortly afterward and Kress had the roboticist strangle him with his prototype robot. Bond cuts his bonds on a table saw, and threw a wrench at the pilot to disarm him, and taking Lambert's gun before calling the authorities and having the three men arrested.
