Under Very Similar Circumstances (よく似た境遇, Yoku Nita Kyōgū, "Very Similar Circumstances") is the one hundred and sixty-first chapter of Initial D.
Plot[]
Kai and Bunta pass each other on Akina. Bunta is impressed by Kai's driving, but Kai is unnerved by the Eight-Six.
Itsuki and Takumi show up for work at the gas station, and Iketani tells Takumi that Kai had shown up looking for him. Itsuki asks what they were driving, and is surprised to hear they drove an SW20 from Tochigi. Takumi asks what an SW20 is, and Iketani explains that it is an MR2, a midship car that Toyota makes. He explains to Takumi that midship (MR) cars have their engine right behind the driver, which lowers the center of gravity. Suddenly, Kai shows up.
At the Fujiwara Tofu Store, Bunta receives a call, and is surprised to hear that the caller is Ken Kogashiwa.
Kai is surprised by how young Takumi is. He explains to Takumi that he had been trying to beat Kyoichi on Irohazaka. Kai says that because Takumi had beaten Kyoichi, his target is now him. Takumi tells him that he hadn't intended to win, but that he'll take any challenge that comes because of it, and he'll be back on Irohazaka before the snow falls. Kai takes his word, and asks him if he was driving the Eight-Six on Akina. Takumi tells him that he wasn't, which Kai finds strange. Kai drives off.
