A New Legend Picks Up Speed (走り始める新たな伝説, Hashiri Hajimeru Arata na Densetsu, "A New Legend Starts to Move") is the one hundred and seventeenth chapter of Initial D.
Plot[]
Kyoichi asks Ryosuke why he can't beat him. Ryosuke tells him that while they're equal in skill and technique, his weakness in right turns puts him at a disadvantage. He explains that because he's so used to racing on closed courses and his home course of Irohazaka (a one way road) he's never gotten used to having to race with the potential of oncoming traffic. Ryosuke tells him that if he hadn't goaded the Eight-Six into a battle, he might not have noticed the hesitation, and would have lost as a result. Ryosuke leaves, and Kyoichi feels as though he's wasted an entire year, but admits that Ryosuke is the better racer.
At the top of Akagi, the RedSuns celebrate their victory. Kenta and Fumihiro wonder why the new records are so much faster than their time trials, and Keisuke explains that they never go all out in time trials, for fear of crashing.
The next day at the gas station, Iketani and Kenji tell Yuichi about the race. Yuichi reckons Takumi didn't want to watch the race because of his loss the previous night. Iketani wonders why Takumi had changed his mind about racing, as he had been adamant about not going.
At school, Natsuki runs into Takumi, and tries to talk to him but he ignores her. She tries to speak with him again, but he tells her that he doesn't want to talk with her, leaving her shocked.
A few days later at a café, Iketani and Kenji tell Takumi that a member of the SpeedStars had seen an Eight-Six driving on Akina. He doubts it's his, but admits he hasn't seen the Eight-Six in some time. He mentions that Bunta had spoken about putting a new engine in the car, but he's unsure as to what came of it.
