Chapter 050

Into New Territory (新境地へ向けて, Shin Kyōchi He Mukete, "Towards the new horizon") is the fiftieth chapter of Initial D.

Plot[]

Takumi asks Ryosuke why he didn't pull away from him after passing, and he tells him that he had overheated his tires trying to copy his drifting. Ryosuke says regardless of the reason, his loss is genuine. Takumi tells him that he doesn't think he's the fastest racer on Akina, which Ryosuke finds funny. He says to him that he shouldn't stick to such a small stage, and that there's a whole world for him to explore.

At the gas station the next day, Iketani and Kenji tell Yuichi about the race the night before. Iketani wonders if Takumi would do as well on another course. Kenji thinks he might have trouble, because he's learned all of his techniques on Akina.

At Lake Akina, Takumi thinks about what Ryosuke had said to him. He realises that that's what's been bothering him, but that he can't do much about it without a car of his own.

At Usui Pass, Mako and Sayuki test out some upgrades to their SilEighty. They talk about the battle between Ryosuke and Takumi, and how they'd like to battle with one of them.

A few days later in Karuizawa, Iketani sees a driver looking under their bonnet, and pulls over to help.
