Wrath (ラース), known by his human alias as King Bradley (キング・ブラッドレイ) is the secondary antagonist of the manga series Fullmetal Alchemist and its 2009 anime adaptation Brotherhood.

He is the dictator and fuhrer-president of the Amestris nation. Although Bradley initially appeared to be an ordinary man, over time it turned out he is one of the Homunculi who assist Father in achieving his goal. He's the arch-enemy of Roy Mustang, Scar, Ling Yao, and Greed.

He was voiced by Hidekatsu Shibata and Hidenobu Kiuchi while young in the Japanese version of the anime, and by the late Ed Blaylock and Christopher Bevins while young in the English version.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Heinous?[]

  • In the past, he initiated many brutal conflicts with neighboring countries to create bloodcrests in various places for the Father's plan. One of those conflicts was the Ishval Civil War, where Wrath mobilized state alchemists who brutally massacred citizens, annihilating almost an entire race. This event was traumatizing not only for the Ishvalan refugees but even for the Amestrian soldiers. In addition, during the extermination, many civilians were used in illegal and unethical experiments with the creation of philosopher's stone.
  • During the Ishvalan War, he refused the Grand Cleric's offer of surrendering himself in exchange for the lives of all the remaining Ishvalans, then mocks the Ishvalans when they state Wrath would suffer the hammer of God by saying God was merely a construct to create fear and promote order.
  • Without mercy he killed almost all of Greed's chimeras/associates, mocking Greed for pitying the loss of his "pawns" and calling him pathetic. He kidnapped Greed and took him to Father, who burned Greed alive in molten gold, and purified from his memories.
  • During his battle with Ling Yao, he made fun of his idealism and fatally injured Lan Fan, forcing Lan Fan to sacrifice one of her arms to escape.
  • He told Roy Mustang that if he takes an inappropriate action against the Central Command, he will endanger Riza Hawkeye. Next, he blackmailed the Elric brothers, telling them if they leave the military, he will kill their close friend, Winry Rockbell.
  • As he said to Roy, at the Hughes funeral, his hands did not tremble because of sadness but anger at the behavior of Maes' daughter, disgusting Roy.
  • After surviving failed Grumman assassination and reaching Central, he brutally slaughtered soldiers from Briggs, destroying an entire tank and killing the crew inside.
  • While fighting Greedling, he fatally injured Buccaneer and gutted Fu, killing them and being indirectly responsible for their sacrifice.
  • Along with Pride, he forced Mustang to perform a human transmutation against his will, causing Roy to lose his sight.
  • He fights against Scar, mocking him for abandoning his religion during their fight and fatally wounds him.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • He genuinely loved his wife since he was the only thing in his life that he actually chose himself.
  • Unlike his homunculi siblings, Wrath is less misanthropic and not so sadistic and cruel. He is affable and treats some enemies with respect (Ling, Fu, Buccaneer), many times showing them his honorable side. For example, in a fight with Scar, Bradley asks for the Ishvalan's true name, which could be considered as praise.
  • He has a tragic backstory, since he was raised from birth to be a tool to become the next Homunculus, forcibly injected with a Philosopher's Stone which caused him horrendous pain and then used as a pawn by Father.
