Jed was a member of Stuart Sumner's far right extremist group. In July 2019, Jonny Baxter set Jed up on a date with Ste Hay, to prevent Ste from reconciling with ex-boyfriend Harry Thompson. However, Ste was unimpressed by Jed and refused to go on a date with him. Ste later felt guilty in that he had not given Jed a proper chance, and scheduled a date with him. The date was not a success, as Ste and Jed found a lack of things in common with each other - and matters were not improved when Jed inadvertently insulted Ste's dress style. To make matters worse, Ste told Jonny outright that he did not like Jed, which an offended Jed overheard.
In August 2019, Ste was asked to collect a "special guest", who turned out to be Jed. Jed tried to convince Ste to go out with him for a drink, and Ste eventually agreed. Jed revealed to Ste that Stuart was behind the pepper-spraying of Sami Maalik, and that Stuart ordered Jed to attack an "Asian kid" outside of a takeaway shop. He revealed that he had been collecting evidence against the group and tried to convince Ste to help him, but Ste betrayed him and informed Stuart and Jonny of what Jed was doing. Stuart ordered Ste to beat up Jed, which Ste did.
In September 2019, Ste sought Jed's help in escaping from the far right group. Jed was wary of Ste, but agreed to help him. He introduced Ste to Officer Turley. Jed later phoned Ste, but Jonny answered his phone, leading to Jonny and Stuart discovering Ste's intentions of leaving the group.
