Jamie Nash was the brother of Jodie Nash and the long-term boyfriend of Becca Hayton until his death in November 2002.
Biography[]
2001-2002: Arrival and Conquests[]
Jamie arrived in Hollyoaks in September 2001, having enrolled at Hollyoaks Community College. After a successful interview with landlord Tony Hutchinson, Jamie moved into 12 Hingham Road with Becca Hayton, Eve Crawford, Chloe Bruce and Mandy Richardson. However, he repeatedly conflicted with Tony over the house rules and decided to move in with old friend Adam Morgan. Regardless, Jamie kept in contact with his flatmates, going on to date both Becca and Eve at the same time. When he was exposed, both girls broke up with him. On New Year's Eve, Mandy - who had been spiralling since the suicide of her brother Lewis - got drunk and slept with Jamie.
Deciding to run for Student President at HCC, Jamie battled Chloe for the title. Jamie's joke campaign ended up winning the vote to Chloe's devastation. In February 2002, Jamie arranged and hosted a 'Splash 4 Cash' event as a fundraiser for Adam, who was left paralysed when Mandy's car crash during a confrontation about her behaviour. Adam, however, was infuriated by the event, accusing Jamie and HCC of seeing him as a charity case. A couple of months later, Becca discovered that she had gonorrhoea and accused Jamie of being the spreader, especially when other girls he had slept with were also diagnosed. A witch-hunt was initiated as a result, until Mandy discovered that Ellie Hunter had passed it on to Jamie.
2002: Death and Aftermath[]
Despite the witch-hunt, Jamie set his sights on Becca and was determined to win her back over. Despite Becca agreeing to give him another chance, she ended up breaking up with him for Alex Bell. Having lost Becca to Alex, Jamie befriended Ben Davies, Max Cunningham and O.B. and was dragged into Max and O.B. troublemaking behaviour. After Alex left for Hong Kong in September 2002, Jamie comforted Becca and supported her as she began working as a teaching assistant at Hollyoaks Comprehensive School, resulting in the pair reuniting once more.
In November 2002, Jamie joined O.B., Max, Ben, Theo Sankofa and Kristian Hargreaves on a potholing exhibition in the Yorkshire Dales. As Jamie drove the van, a landslide occurred and the van was flipped, teetering over the edge of a cliff. Theo was killed when he fell out of the van and off the cliff, whilst Jamie was trapped in the van when it fell (despite Ben's rescue attempts). Jamie was left comatose and woke a week later, but ultimately died from his injuries.
O.B., Becca, Ben, and Jamie's sister Jodie Nash all took Jamie's death hard. O.B., who had been having troubles with alcohol, ended up falling significantly deeper into alcoholism. Meanwhile, Ben developed survivor's guilt and entered a depression, quitting his job with the fire service (he eventually rejoined but even said in September 2005 that he was still struggling with Theo and Jamie's deaths). Becca discovered that she was pregnant a week later, but underwent an abortion (to Jodie's devastation) as she was not ready to be a single mother. And Jodie had the hardest job of all: sorting Jamie's belongings and planning his funeral.
