Synopsis

John Paul and Sylver are missing as Liam's other guests wonder what he's got planned. Liberty confides in Courtney. And the pieces of the puzzle fall into place for Mercedes.

Plot

Liam flashes off his new gun. Grace worries about Sylver. Liam reveals that he last saw Sylver with John Paul. James threatens Liam so Liam points the gun on him and taunts him. Maxine is surprised to learn that Liam still blames her for Jesse's death. Liam begins to taunt James over his secret. Liam suggests they play a game. James asks "where is John Paul?", to which Liam tells him is the name of the game. Liam points out that Sylver is also in danger. He gives James and Grace the task of finding John Paul and Sylver in three minutes, or else Maxine will be killed.

Goldie searches for Sylver but fails to find him in the emporium. Goldie finds Mercedes's invite to The Devil's Dinner Party. Grace recognises Sylver's bedroom through the photograph and Grace breaks down the door, which has been boarded up from the inside. They find a booby prize on the bed. Mercedes and Maxine panic when Liam begins counting down the seconds from ten. Maxine pleads for her life and just as Liam is about to pull the trigger, Goldie pounds on the door. Liam makes Mercedes get rid of Goldie, which works.

Grace throws the booby prize box at Liam as they return without Sylver and John Paul. He reveals that they have been behind the curtain the entire time. He says that they lost the game, and tells them to open the present. Liam wakes Sylver and John Paul. Grace opens the box to find a screenshot of the CCTV footage of James, Grace and Jesse arguing. Liam reveals that Grace lied to Sylver about her criminal acts being in the past. Mercedes demands to know what the truth is. He tells Mercedes that her "two charming dinner companions" are the ones that shot her. Mercedes is shocked.

Liberty vents to Courtney and Courtney invites her back to the flat. Warren is desperate to leave the hospital as Joel and Brody try to stop him. Goldie asks Joel about Liam's dinner party. Warren races off when he realises that Mercedes is locked in The Dog in the Pond with Liam. Mercedes and Grace have an argument, which Liam enjoys. He takes John Paul to the cellar when he gets angry with James. Sylver is furious with Grace. Liam gives Mercedes a bag with a gun inside, she has a choice - he will let everyone live, if Mercedes shoots Grace dead.

James unties John Paul, who is still furious with him. James pleads for John Paul to forgive him but he refuses. Liam tells a frightened Grace that he looked up to her, and then she killed Eva. Sylver is horrified. Liam puts the gun in Mercedes's hands, loads it and aims it at Grace. He screams at her to shoot. Mercedes stands up, walks closer to Grace, but points the gun at Liam, telling him to untie Sylver and unlock the door. Liam laughs at her, she fires the gun and Liam gets squirted with water.

Warren, Goldie, Brody and Joel try to find a way into the pub. Warren notices the upstairs window open. Joel dials "999". Liam decides who to give a chance to next - Sylver. He says that Sylver served an eighteen-year sentence for a murder he didn't commit, so he can have this one on Liam. Courtney speaks highly of Liam to Liberty and assures her that she will find where she fits with Brody like Courtney has with Liam. Liberty's phone runs out of battery. Courtney hopes that Liam will be something to Iona one day.

Brody and Warren have found a ladder. John Paul tries to break out of the cellar. James warns him that Liam will kill him as soon as he gets out. John Paul manages to break the door open. Warren sneaks into the flat and make his way downstairs. They bump into Warren in the back room. Warren watches Liam try to convince Sylver to shoot Grace. Warren tells John Paul and James to hit the fire alarm ten seconds after he's snuck in. Sylver refuses to take the gun, so Liam decides to shoot Grace anyway. As he loads the gun and points it at her, Warren tackles him as the fire alarm goes off. Warren beats up Liam and takes the gun.

Liam manages to grab Mercedes. Police and armed units arrive at the pub. Liam prepares to throw Mercedes down the cellar stairs, but Grace pushes him off her. She manages to stop Liam from falling down the stairs. Liam pleads for his life but Grace disowns him and lets him go, causing him to fall down the stairs, killing him. Armed police storm the building as the hostages escape. Mercedes reveals that Liam is dead. Everyone is in shock at the night's events.

Mistakes

• In the scene where Liam falls down the stairs:
  • When Grace lets go of Liam's tie, Liam is falls backwards down the stairs. However, when the camera cuts to Liam falling down the flight of stairs, he is rolling down on his side.
  • The stunt performer misses the railing. However, in the next shot, Liam hits his head against the railing.
