Episode 479 (10th July 2000)

Synopsis[]

Tony is left even more enraged as he learns why his parents are divorcing. Darren continues to push Ruth to the limit. Alex and Taylor begin their search for the pirate, whilst Geri and Adam find themselves getting closer to each other.

Plot[]

Taylor is fuming as he listens to the pirate. Tony is horrified when Nikki eats the tomato for a customer's dish. Geri makes sarcastic remarks towards Nikki. Ruth tells Darren that he is outstaying his welcome. Victoria tells Tony why she has left Brian, she wants a life and not a slow death which is what Brian would give her. Lewis is delighted as he wins on the horse racing. Finn wants Matt to help set up the yard for a beach-themed party. Darren takes a phone call and uses a whiteboard marker to write the phone number on a sheet of paper; the ink goes through the paper and onto the sofa! Nikki asks Emily about Jill.

Adam vents to Geri about Luke's attackers and how he and the family is coping. Tony blames Finn for breaking up Victoria and Brian's marriage, and accuses him of taking advantage. Finn inadvertently winds Tony up. He tries to punch Finn but misses, so a shocked Finn leaves. The radio pirate reveals that Christine was paid £35,000 after being fired, giving Alex and Taylor a clue. Alex finishes designing a detector to find where the pirate is transmitting from. Finn asks Victoria if she would have divorced Brian if she had not met him, Victoria says that she should have left him years ago. Alex's detector stops as the pirate has stopped broadcasting.

Victoria confronts Tony over telling Finn that he has been cited in the divorce. Victoria feels bad that she didn't stop Tony from being a clone of Brian. Alex's detector gets a strong signal. They are confronted by Matt. Ruth is incensed to find the stain on the sofa and tells Darren that he will be moving back in with Jack. Adam is grateful for Geri letting him open up. Ruth wonders whether to believe Darren; he thinks that Jill is making up the brain tumour to get back with Jack. Geri flirts with Adam, he reciprocates. They make out and she leads him to her bedroom.
