The Magisterium in Geneva was essentially the headquarters and ruling authority of the Holy Church. It replaced the Papacy in Lyra's world after the pope John Calvin passed away.[1]
Any discoveries that have a bearing on the doctrines of the Church have to be announced through the Magisterium. After the existence of Dust was confirmed by an investigator of the Consistorial Court of Discipline, the Magisterium decided that Dust was the physical evidence for original sin.[2]
Every philosophical research establishment had to include on its staff a representative of the Magisterium, to act as a censor and suppress the news of any heretical discoveries.[3]
