Synopsis for "Day of Wrath part 1"
The empress of the alien Brood reaches out to Hannah Connover in a dream, shows her a planet enslaved by the Brood, and preaches their philosophy of conquest. Sensing Hannah’s resistance to the Brood queen inside her, the empress condemns Hannah and sends assassins called the Firstborn to Earth to kill her. Having telepathically shared Hannah’s dream, a vacationing Phoenix wakes up in a Sedona, Arizona motel, tells her husband Cyclops what she saw, and contacts Professor X at the Xavier Institute. He gathers a team of X-Men, briefs them on the Brood, and sends them to Arizona in the Blackbird to investigate. In a camp outside Sedona, Hannah refuses to discuss her dream with her husband, the evangelist William Connover. She recalls being implanted with a Brood embryo by paramedic Josey Thomas, discovering it was a nascent Brood queen, and infecting congregants in the guise of healing them. Moved by her Christian faith and wracked with guilt, she later stopped. At the Grand Canyon, Josey Thomas meets the Firstborn when they land, and they reveal they will die once they kill Hannah and those she infected. Cyclops and Phoenix visit the Connover’s camp and watch as two of Hannah’s infectees agree to escort her into Sedona. Later, Josey Thomas and the Firstborn watch from an alley as Hannah and her companions arrive. Now that Josey has led them to Hannah, the Firstborn declare she has outlived her usefulness and kill her. Next, they attack Hannah, and her infectees transform into their Brood forms to protect her. The Firstborn swiftly kill them, but Hannah telepathically calls out to others she has infected for help. Cyclops and Phoenix arrive along with the police and beat the Firstborn back. The other X-Men arrive, join the fight, and help protect the police and bystanders. As Wolverine grapples with a Firstborn, Bishop has Storm charge up his powers with lightning and strikes it with a massive energy blast. Cannonball flies into another Firstborn, accidentally knocking it into a tanker truck which explodes. The fallen Firstborn disintegrate, and the X-Men take Hannah to the Blackbird. Convinced Hannah’s humanity is gone, Wolverine wants to kill her, but the other X-Men recognize her resistance to the Brood and refuse. The others Hannah has infected come to protect her and move to attack, but she stops them and begs the X-Men to kill her.
