Synopsis for "The Spoils of War"
The U.S. military excavated the underground temple in Vietnam and transported the alien corpses and technology inside to a base in the Arizona desert. The technology proved to be a computer which scientists named GENIE. Aladdin was created to study it, and Rayder was given command. Combining tissue from the two alien corpses triggered an energy reaction, but all test subjects exposed to it died. A few years later, gas from the reaction caused GENIE to start growing biomass, and it became sentient in 1971. Eventually, GENIE revealed to Rayder that the power created by the reaction was called “Shu-ji”. GENIE assimilated Rayder and explained that Shu-ji is the fusion of galactic power and noble cause and can alter reality. GENIE transformed Rayder into a cyborg and released him, disclosing that two identical lifeforms are required to wield the power. Now, GENIE explains to Rune that Aladdin genetically engineered a pair of identical twins—Erik Johnson and Noel Robinson—to serve as vessels for Shu-ji. Elsewhere, Aladdin agents pull Noel from the wreckage of the plane that transported him, and Rayder orders him taken to a base for reconditioning. At the site of the former power station, Erik’s energy blast has created a mile-wide, highly radioactive crater. Amongst the wreckage, Erik awakens to a vision of Markie telling him he needs to leave. Meanwhile, Rune declares he will harness the power of the Shu-ji, eats more of GENIE’s tissue, and escape. At the same time, Noel awakens to his parents giving him pills to control his power. GENIE tells Rayder that Rune’s Star Stones contain souls, and that he can use them to become human again by possessing the twins once they merge together. At the crater, Erik rises into the sky as he generates more energy, vaporizing the Aladdin agents monitoring him.
