Synopsis for "President Batman"

Batman finds himself cornered by a gang of Arkham escapees carrying the highly contagious Zombie Bacillus, led by the brilliantly sadistic Doctor Psycho. The timely intervention of Wonder Woman and her Lasso of Truth, however, forces Psycho to reveal there is no contagion; he had simply hypnotized the others into acting like zombies. As the escapees snap out of their trance, Batman captures them all in one fell swoop.

Later, Batman joins Green Arrow in investigating a kidnap threat against the President of the United States. With the Secret Service's reluctant approval, Batman uses a hologram projector to disguise himself as the President, with Green Arrow posing as his chief bodyguard. While the real President takes shelter in an underground bunker, the undercover heroes easily dispatch a belligerent Okaaran envoy and a quarreling Congress; eventually, the threat is carried out, its mastermind none other than the Ultra-Humanite.

Though surprised when the heroes reveal themselves, the Humanite rallies quickly enough to subdue them both, stealing Batman's projector in the process; such a perfect disguise, he explains, completely obviates his original plan to transfer his mind into the President's body. Nevertheless, he refuses to let his mind-transfer machine go untested, and decides to use his pet gorilla Topango as a test subject instead - with Batman on the receiving end.

Fortunately, the Humanite's gloating gives Batman and Green Arrow just enough time to break their bonds and defeat their captor. While local authorities close in on the Humanite's hideout, the heroes return to Washington - with the real President in tow - just in time to salvage one of the Administration's riskiest peace agreements.

Notes

  • Secret Bat-Files: Ultra-Humanite and Green Arrow.

Trivia

  • While supposedly representing "The Polynesian Republic of Bellona", President Gaumount is an obvious caricature of Muammar Gaddafi.
