“ I'm Anxiety. I'm one of Riley's new emotions, and we are just super jazzed to be here! Where can I put my stuff? „
~ Anxiety introducing herself to Riley's original emotions.
“ We all have a job to do. You make Riley happy, Sadness makes her sad, Fear protects her from the scary stuff she can see, and MY job is to protect her from the scary stuff she CAN’T see! I plan for the future. „
~ Anxiety explaining her and the new emotions' involvement in Riley's life.
“ Joy... I'm sorry. I was just trying to protect her... But you’re right. We don’t get to choose who Riley is. „
~ Anxiety's redemption, as she apologizes to Joy, feeling remorseful after realizing her reckless actions in wanting to control Riley's life.

Anxiety is the main antagonist of Inside Out 2. She is the first emotion to appear since Riley Anderson's toddler years, by the time she becomes a teenager and is then followed by Envy, Ennui and Embarrassment.

Her Good Ranking[]

Her Heroic Deeds[]

  • While her methods were questionable and caused more harm than good, Anxiety only wanted to protect Riley and prepare her for the future; she had a point that Riley needed to take camp seriously, as Joy making her goof off with Bree and Grace got her in trouble with Coach Roberts (who strictly stated everyone at camp was expected to train) and had everyone skate lines as punishment, causing Val’s friends to be annoyed with her.
  • She got Riley to hang out with the Fire Hawks by having her apologize to Val, showing that she can be helpful for immediate problems.
  • She had Riley get up early to train so she can get better.
  • She was hesitant to break into Coach Roberts’ office at first, only doing so after Envy convinces her to do it.
  • After Joy makes her realize she can’t choose who Riley is, she joins the other emotions in hugging Riley’s new sense of self to console Riley.
  • After she reconciled with the main emotions, she starts to concentrate her energies in a more health way, like remembering Riley to study for her Spanish test.

Why Doesn't She Stand Out?[]

  • She fails the admirable standards, since her most admirable act of helping Riley snap out from a panic attack was shared with the other emotions, most of whom have additional acts outside of it.
  • She’s spends most of the film as an extremist, doing things like imprisoning the primary emotions (even implying the situation may be permanent), causing Riley to act like a jerk to Bree and Grace, depriving her of sleep and having her trespass into Coach Roberts’ office.
  • Her paranoia and overthinking often causes problems, like depriving Riley of sleep due to having the mind workers think terrible and stressing scenarios and her causing Riley to be in a state of self-doubt and having her focused to get three scores (ironically contradicting own her attempts to gain favor with Val’s friends, which caused her to accidentally injure Grace, resulting in Riley experiencing a panic attack.
