~ Luigi in SMBZ |
Luigi is one of the two -and the titular one- deuteragonists (alongside Shadow) of the 2006 flash animation series Super Mario Bros. Z.
Residing in the Mushroom Kingdom alongside his twin brother Mario, they are famous for being known as the heroes of the kingdom. After being enlisted by Sonic, he sets out to stop Turbo Mecha Sonic from collecting all of the Chaos Emeralds.
Much like his mainline, his voice clips were provided by Charles Martinet.
Biography[]
Appearance[]
Luigi appears very similar to his brother Mario, but with a slightly slimmer and taller physique. He possesses the same brown hair and black mustache as well, though Luigi's mustache is slightly neater than Mario's. His clothing is similar to Mario's, but his shirt and cap are colored green rather than red.
History[]
Luigi and his older brother Mario were both born around the same time; though Mario is considered the "older" of the two brothers. They were to be delivered via a Stork to their parents. However, Kamek interfered in the Stork's delivery, and managed to kidnap him and take him to the castle of the then-infant Bowser, while Mario fell to Yoshi's Island. He was Kamek's prisoner for a time until he was rescued by Mario and Yoshi, who defeated Bowser and Kamek before the brother were returned to their true parents.
In adulthood, Luigi always worked alongside Mario in many occupations, but has always lived in his brother's shadow. They eventually became heroes of the Mushroom Kingdom due to saving Princess Peach from Bowser numerous times.
However, that is not to say that Luigi hasn't faced his fair share of foes, as he has had to save his older brother on several occasions. Most notably seen in Luigi's Mansion and its sequels where he joined forces with Professor E. Gadd to rescue Mario from the clutches of King Boo.
Personality[]
Like in the games, Luigi is timid and a bit of a coward, though here his cowardice is exaggerated greatly. He is often reluctant to join Mario on his adventures due to his cowardly nature. However, he will overcome his fears when the situation calls for it, such as when someone he cares for is in danger, even going as far as to face his greatest fear, ghosts, to save his brother during the events of Luigi's Mansionand its sequels.
Luigi has also shown to be self-conscious of being overlooked. Though he is recognized as a hero of the Mushroom Kingdom, many individuals struggle to remember his name, most notably including Bowser and the Koopa Troop. He is also incredibly clumsy, this trait often being the source of slapstick comic relief.
Powers & Abilities[]
Luigi fights much like Mario does in battle, possessing a powerful jump, and is incredibly acrobatic and agile. In terms of hand-to-hand combat, Luigi is a fair fighter, but his true ability is shown whenever he is fighting alongside a partner. Otherwise, Luigi fights with powerful punches and kicks.
Like Mario, Luigi wields a comically large hammer with a butter yellow-colored head.
