Biography[]
Bluestar's Prophecy[]
Snowkit is born to Moonflower and Stormtail alongside her sister Bluekit. She is the first of the two to open their eyes, and is impatient while waiting for Bluekit to open hers, wanting to explore the camp with her already. She's excited when her sister finally does open her eyes, and the two explore the camp with their mother's permission, meeting Leopardkit, Patchkit and Dapplepaw. Though she wanted to stay with Patchkit and Leopardkit, Snowkit is convinced by her sister to sneak into the warrior's, leader's and elder's dens.
The two then wait with Moonflower for Stormtail to come see them for the first time, with Snowkit being disappointed that their father isn't very interested in either of them. She cheers up when their uncle Goosefeather comes to visit them though, and he shows the two his medicine den. The two then start daring each other to eat strange herbs when Goosefeather isn't looking, with Bluekit daring Snowkit to eat some poppy seeds, which she says are delicious. Moonflower catches them and is angry at her brother for not watching them more closely, asking the white she-kit how many poppy seeds she ate. Snowkit mutters that she ate two, and Goosefeather says that she'll be fine after she sleeps the effects off. Bluekit defends her sister, saying it was her fault for daring her to eat them.
Once they reach six moons old, Snowkit and Bluekit become warrior apprentices, earning the names Snowpaw and Bluepaw. Snowpaw is mentored by Sparrowpelt, who takes her out to explore ThunderClan's territory, while Bluepaw is assigned to Stonepelt, who just has her help collect moss. Later, Bluepaw goes to her first Gathering while Snowpaw misses out, making the white she-cat jealous. One day, Snowpaw catches a vole with its fur blown back by the wind, which Goosefeather interprets as a sign from StarClan that WindClan will destroy the forest. He convinces the leader Pinestar to raid WindClan to prevent this, With Snowpaw and Bluepaw being tasked as messengers since they're too young to participate in battle.
During the battle, Moonflower attacks WindClan's medicine den, and the medicine cat Hawkheart kills her to stop her from destroying his herb supply. Both sisters are in despair over their mother's death and mourn her heavily, though unlike Snowpaw, Bluepaw doesn't get over the loss nearly as quickly. When Bluepaw lashes out during a training session, Snowpaw apologizes to their mentors, saying she's just in a mood, which only upsets the blue she-cat further.
Soon Snowpaw becomes infatuated with a fellow apprentice named Thistlepaw, which angers Bluepaw, who has a rivalry with the gray-and-white tom. She becomes jealous that her sister is now hanging out with Thistlepaw more than her. During a battle against RiverClan at the Sunningrocks, Bluepaw fights the RiverClan apprentice Crookedpaw, with Snowpaw coming to her aid and helping to chase him off. Later, Snowpaw doesn't believe Bluepaw when she tells her that Goosefeather had given her a prophecy about blazing through the forest like fire, but being destroyed by water. This upsets Bluepaw greatly, who thinks that all her sister wants to do is moon over Thistlepaw.
A while later, Snowpaw and Bluepaw become warriors, earning the names Snowfur and Bluefur. Soon after, Thistleclaw becomes a warrior as well after fighting off a dog, and he and Snowfur become mates. After Thistleclaw's sister Sweetpaw dies of food poisoning, Snowfur invites Bluefur to go on a walk through the forest with her. The white she-cat talks about how loyal of a brother Thistleclaw is to Sweetpaw, and then reveals that she's pregnant. A few moons later, she gives birth to a single white tom named Whitekit.
A little while after Whitekit's birth, Bluefur invites Snowfur to go on a walk with her to get out of the nursery and stretch her legs, as she had missed the freedom of being a warrior. While they're out, they talk about RiverClan's fight to claim Sunningrocks, and Bluefur admits that she'd seen a RiverClan warrior trespassing recently. Snowfur asks if she told the deputy Sunfall, shocked when she says no, and asks where her loyalty to her Clan has gone. Bluefur retorts that she's still loyal to ThunderClan, but Snowfur figures out that she has feeling for the RiverClan warrior Oakheart when her sister gets a bit too eager to defend him. Angry at her codebreaking, Snowfur storms off, and her littermate follows. Once she catches up, the white she-cat tells her to be quiet, as she's spotted two ShadowClan warriors crossing the ThunderClan border. The two fight the intruders off, and Snowfur pursues them as they cross over the thunderpath back to ShadowClan, getting hit by a monster in the process.
Bluefur is wracked with grief, and a patrol of Thrushpelt, Dappletail, Adderfang, White-eye and Windflight find her with her sister's body. They help bring Snowfur's body back to camp, where Adderfang tells everyone besides Whitekit what happened, and everyone is grief-stricken, especially Thistleclaw. Bluefur tells Whitekit that his mother will not be coming home, and he gets upset, assuming that she doesn't like him anymore. His aunt assures him that she loves him very much, and she'll watch over him from StarClan. He asks if she'll visit him, to which Bluefur explains that she has died. Robinwing then offers to nurse the white kit and having him sleep in her nest with her kits, but he refuses, wailing that he wants Snowfur back. He curls up next to her body, promising to stay with her, and is even more upset when she's taken away to be buried.
Quite a while later, while spending the night at with Oakheart at Fourtrees, Bluefur senses the spirits of Snowfur and Moonflower watching her with sorrow in their eyes before they disappear. Later still, after Bluefur has kits with Oakheart, she realizes that she must give them away to prevent Thistleclaw from becoming leader. She takes them to RiverClan one snowy night, but Mosskit dies of hypothermia along the way. The blue she-cat tries to save her child, but then hears Snowfur's voice telling her that it's too late to save them, and it was their time to die. She then leads Mosskit's spirit to StarClan as Bluefur is forced to continue on with her remaining two kits.
After Sunstar's death Bluefur succeeds him as the leader of ThunderClan and goes to the Moonstone so that StarClan may grant her nine lives. Her final life is given by Snowfur, who gives her a life of pride, telling her to recognize the value in herself and her Clan. She then thanks her sister for taking good care of Whitekit - now a warrior known as Whitestorm - and says that StarClan has never regretted choosing her.
SkyClan's Destiny[]
When SkyClan's ancestors reunite with StarClan for one night, Skywatcher and Cloudstar introduce SkyClan's leader Leafstar to Snowfur, Bluestar and Whitestorm.
Omen of the Stars[]
Sign of the Moon[]
Snowfur briefly appears in StarClan alongside Lionheart and Mosskit, the latter of which is prancing around her paws happily.
The Last Hope[]
When the ThunderClan medicine cat Jayfeather is re-unifying StarClan for the battle against the Dark Forest, Snowfur is one of the cats he gathers, with Mosskit hiding under her belly. As they scope out the Dark Forest, Snowfur hushes Mosskit when they ask where the sun is.
Trivia[]
- When asked about the theory of Mapleshade causing Snowfur's death, author Victoria Holmes said it may be true, and that she wished she thought of it while writing Crookedstar's Promise. She also stated that she likes the idea of Bluestar and Snowfur being distantly related to Mapleshade.
- Thistleclaw being Snowfur's mate and Whitestorm's father was an idea first proposed by a fan in Erin Hunter Chat 5.
- She is mistakenly listed in the allegiances of Crookedstar's Promise despite not having been born yet.
