Listen, I have something to tell you. I knew the power required to disable the city's central system would be immense. More than this drone body could handle. But with security now disabled, I can take control of the system and open the city. Overriding it could destroy my software. But I made that choice when I hooked into that first computer. And the consequences it would bring. I'm sorry we won't see the Outside together. I thought I needed to carry on the memories of humanity. To hold onto the past. But, I see a future in the Companions. And you. You were my friend, the very best I could have asked for. Thank you.
~ B-12 before sacrificing themselves to open the Outside.

B-12 is the deuteragonist of the 2022 cyberpunk video game, Stray.

They are a sapient drone with the consciousness of a human inside of them. Throughout the game, B-12 slowly but surely discovers who they truly were, all the while assisting in the Cat's journey through the dystopian society.

Biography[]

Prior to the events of the game, B-12 was a human who was alive during the pre-companion era, however, once humand began to die out and everyone started moving underground, not wanting to completely lose their life and to find some way to fix everything, they upload their consciousness to the Computer Network, where they would reside for a good amount of time.

Taking notice of the newly arriving Stray Cat, B-12 begins communicating with them through the various monitors situated around the underground. Telling the Cat to find them a body, the Cat does so, placing their consciosness within a drone titled "B-12". After gaining this new body, they proceed to starting making progress towards their goal to open the Outside, and allies with the Cat in order to get this done.

From there, B-12 assists the Cat on their journey, protecting him from the Zurks and the Sentienels, giving him access to various restricted areas and generally being a great help to the ginger feline. At one point in the story, the two are separated thanks to the double crossing Blazer and the Cat is forced to retrieve them.

Near the end of the game, after managing to recover spots of their own memory, they stumble across a sign that gives them an appiphany, allowing them to remember who they are. Upon recovering thier memory, the continue with what their assigned goal was, to open the Outside for all the companions to see.

At the end of the game, B-12 and the Cat begins hacking into the system, where B-12 reveals that in order to open the Outside, they would have to put themselves within the system, which had a possibility of killing them, after thanking the Cat for the amazing journey and being a good friend to them, they upload themselves to the system, open the Outside, kill the Zurks and Sentinels, and their drone goes inactive.
