“ | Nobody takes the true fans seriously. Not really. They just laugh at us and WHY?! Because we love something?! We're just a f-cking joke to them?! How can fandom be toxic? It's about love! They don't f-cking understand these movies are important to people! And we're gonna help them! Hollywood's totally f-cking out of ideas, so we decided we'd give them some new source material to follow. You know, bring it back to basics. Because that's how you make a great Stab movie, Sam. Based on actual events. | „ |
~ Richie revealing the sheer pettiness of his motive. |
Richard "Richie" Kirsch is the main antagonist of the 2022 slasher film Scream, the fifth installment of the Scream franchise.
Before the events of the film, Richie met Amber Freeman on Reddit. They were both upset that the new stab movie was no good, so they started a relationship, and decided to create a serial killing spree in Woodsboro to create a real life stab requel and they were going to frame Sam Carpenter for the murders, since she was the illegitimate daughter of Billy Loomis.
He was portrayed by Jack Quaid.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- He is overall clearly meant to be a satirical jab at entitled fans who think that they own their respective franchises all the while lacking any genuine good ideas about it.
- He has a laughably petty motive even compared to the other Ghostface killers, being just a Stab fanboy who was so dissatisfied with the newer Stab movies that he went on a murder spree to inspire a good "requel".
- Despite claiming that Hollywood is out of ideas, his own plans are shown to be an almost beat for beat remake of the original Woodsboro killings, right down to the love interest as the killer, making him a massive hypocrite and worse than the people he looks down upon.
- He emotionally manipulated Sam Carpenter by pretending to be her loving and understanding boyfriend all while covertly planning to murder and frame her. He later even goes as far as gloating about how stupid she he had been to believe in him.
- He chased Sam around as Ghostace at the hospital.
- He murdered Wes Hicks.
- Stole Sam's half-sister Tara's inhaler to trap her, Sam, Sidney Prescott, and Gale Weathers at Amber's house, which used to be Stu Macher's house.
- He attempted to kill Mindy Meeks-Martin from behind.
- Showcases a huge amount of arrogance, being convinced that Sam would rather suspect the sister she has known her entire life than him, who she has only known for about half a year.
- After revealing himself as Ghostface he goes on a self-absorbed rant on how fandom can never be toxic as it's about love, seemingly oblivious to the fact that he himself murdered numerous innocent people out of said "love".
- Weakly tries to beg for his life while Sam kills him after previously showing sadistic glee when he was about to murder her.
