Lucas T. is the titular main antagonist of the 2022 animated short horror film The Twins.
He is a straight A-student whom is a manipulative bully that constantly abuses and tattles on his twin brother Lake.
He was voiced by Rebecca Chiara Mirano.
What makes him a Hate Sink?[]
- He constantly tattles on his older twin brother, Lake, who, while slightly flawed and troublesome, isn't quite as bad as he reports him to be. Lucas is aware of this and simply fabricates certain incidents and pins it on Lake so many times.
- He takes Lake's toy car and tries to break it for no good reason other to spite him.
- Despite posing as well-behaved and respectful kid, he actually has no problem in breaking the rules, as shown when he climbed the junkyard.
- While it's implied that Lucas is doing this out of desperation to not feel isolated in society, his actions far outweighs his motivation and clearly takes sadistic glee in his abuse of Lake. Thus, his insecurity is barely a mitigating factor and actually serves to show how pathetic Lucas is underneath it all.
- When arguing with Lake, he arrogantly states that he was better than Lake, and attempts to destroy Lake’s car after he called him out for his selfishness and his constant mistreatment of him.
- When he gets stuck in the freeway, he then cowardly begs for Lake to help him to which Lake did not want to do so because of how long Lucas has abused him. This is what causes a car to accidentally run Lucas over.
- Although he dies at the end of the short, his death is portrayed more for shock rather than sympathy, and it is a direct consequence of him going out on the street during the night. Even Lake, while shocked and not intending to cause his brother's death, doesn't really mourn him and just disposes or hides the body.
- After his death, Lake takes the identity of his late twin brother. This moment is played entirely for horror and more-so signifies how Lucas corrupted Lake into becoming an immoral person just like him.
