Feenky was a female house-elf who worked in the Hogwarts kitchens during the late 19th century.[1]

Physical description[]

Feenky was short with long, floppy ears, round eyes, and long strands of grey hair on her otherwise bald head. Her voice was high-pitched.[1]

Personality and traits[]

Feenky was lax when it came to rules, as she would not kick visiting Hogwarts students out of the kitchens if she found them, and thought that there was nothing that lifted her spirits more than the company of students. She was fond of Helga Hufflepuff and her recipes, and was jovial, cheerful, and helpful, as she would happily answer any of visiting students' questions.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

"Oh! A student? What a treat."
— Feenky to the player[src]
  • If the player is sorted into Gryffindor, they would meet Feenky during the Gryffindor-exclusive quest "The Hunt for the Missing Pages".
    • The player sneaks into the kitchens to get some rotten roast beef for Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington. Feenky Apparates behind them and asks them what she can get for them. The student replies that they want rotten roast beef, so Feenky tells them to help themself.[1]
    • She also answers any questions the player has about the Hogwarts kitchens. She explains that it is impossible for even house-elves to conjure food out of thin air due to food being one of the five principle exceptions to Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration. She tells them that they multiply it, transform it, prepare it, then send it to the Great Hall.[1]
    • She doesn't believe there are any exceptions to the food that can be magically created in the kitchens, as she has always had the best luck with Helga Hufflepuff's many recipes. She talks about how Hufflepuff's quince pie is well-liked, but the Arbroath smokies has been growing a following.[1]
    • When the player asks if students are allowed in the kitchens, Feenky tells them that they aren't supposed to be there, but she allows them to stay because her spirit is lifted by the company of students. She explains that they rarely get visitors, and they have plenty of treats, so the player is welcome to return. When the player leaves, she asks them to "give Nick Feenky's regards".[1]
