The topic of this article is of a real-life subject that has been mentioned "in-universe" in a canon source. The Harry Potter Wiki is written from the perspective that all information presented in canon is true (e.g., Hogwarts really existed), and, as such, details contained in this article may differ from real world facts.

Europe is a continent in the Northern hemisphere. It is west of Asia, north of Africa, and east of the Americas, from which it is separated by the Atlantic Ocean.^[1] Europe was the home to at least four known magical schools: Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the Beauxbatons Academy of Magic, Koldovstoretz and the Durmstrang Institute and many famous wizards and witches.

While Europe consists of more countries than listen beneath, the following were countries with notable significance to the wizarding world:

Albania is a southeastern European country located along the coast of the Adriatic Sea. Lord Voldemort fled to the forests of Albania after his first defeat, until he took over the body of Professor Quirrell. After he was expelled from Quirrell's body, he returned to the forests of Albania until he was found by Peter Pettigrew.^[2]
Andorra is one of the smallest countries in the world, situated in the mountains between Spain and France. It had its own Ministry of Magic.
Armenia
Austria is a German-speaking country in Central Europe. Nurmengard Castle which was built by Gellert Grindelwald to hold his enemies, was located in the Alps of Austria.
Belarus

Belgium is a small country in Western Europe.
Bulgaria is a country in Eastern Europe. It had its own Ministry of Magic led by Mr Oblansk. Bulgaria had its own national Quidditch Team, and its best team were the Vratsa Vultures, who came from the Northwestern Bulgarian city Vratsa.
Czechia is a country in Central Europe. Its capital Prague was home to a large wizarding library.
Denmark
France is a large country in Western Europe across the English Channel from England. Rubeus Hagrid and Olympe Maxime went through France on their way to find giants in Eastern Europe.^[3] Hermione Granger went to France on a trip with her parents during a summer holiday.^[4] The first International Confederation of Wizards meeting was held here. France had its own Magical School, the Beauxbatons Academy of Magic. Hermione, Hagrid and Olympe all went through Dijon. Gladrags Wizardwear had a shop in Paris, like they did in London. The Quiberon Quafflepunshers came from Quiberon, a small northwestern French town. Known wizards and witches from France included Pierre Bonaccord, Malecrit, Fleur Delacour, Gabrielle Delacour, and Olympe Maxime.
Germany is a large country in Central Europe and was governed by its own Ministry of Magic.
Greece is in southeastern Europe and was native land to the earliest recorded Merpeople, Sirens, and Cyclops. It was where the first ever recorded Basilisk was created, and was the home of the sorceress Circe, who lived on Aeaea. The Griffin, Hippocampus, Manticore, Centaur and Chimaera also all originated in Greece.^[5] Dai Llewellyn from the Caerphilly Catapults was killed by a Chimaera on Mykonos.
Greenland
Hungary is a country in Central Europe. The Hungarian Horntail was native to Hungary.
Ireland is an independent nation in the Muggle world, unlike in the wizarding world, where it happened to be under the jurisdiction of the British Ministry of Magic.
Italy is country in Southern Europe and was governed by its own Ministry of Magic

Luxembourg
Liechtenstein is a German-speaking country in Central Europe and, despite its small size, was governed by its own Ministry of Magic and had its own national National Quidditch team.
Macedonia
Netherlands
Norway is a country in Scandinavia. The Norwegian Ridgeback was native to Norway. Norway was one of the few known countries with their own Ministry of Magic. It is most likely that the Durmstrang Institute was located in Northern Norway or Svalbard.
Poland is a Slavic country in Central Europe. American No-maj Jacob Kowalski was born in Poland.
Portugal, a country in the Iberian Peninsula; home of the Braga Broomfleet Quidditch team and the Portuguese Long-Snout breed of dragon.
Romania is an Eastern European country, that the largest preservation area was located in and Charles Weasley was a dragon keeper.
Russia is an Eastern European country that also shares its borders with Asia. Russia had its own magical school, Koldovstoretz.
Spain, a country in the Iberian Peninsula, which had its own Ministry of Magic.
Sweden is a country in Northern Europe. The Lovegood family believed that the Crumple-Horned Snorkack was native to Sweden.
Turkey
Ukraine is a Slavic country and a former member state of the Soviet Union. The Ukrainian Ironbelly was native to this country
The United Kingdom which includes:
- England is a country in northwest Europe, in the British Isles. It was the location of the British Ministry of Magic, in London.^[6]

- Scotland is the country in which Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the school of magic was located.
