The Pogrebin was a foot-tall Russian demon with a hairy body and a large grey head.[1]
Description[]
The Pogrebin was attracted to humans, and enjoyed tailing them. When a human being tailed turned around, the Pogrebin would crouch down, and, because of its large head, resemble a rock. If the beast managed to tail a human for a few hours, a sense of despair and futility would wash over the human. When the victim sat or sank to its knees to weep at the pointlessness of it all, the Pogrebin would attack and attempt to devour them. Fortunately, the Pogrebin could be fought off with simple Dark charms, Stunning Spells, or kicking.[1]
Etymology[]
The Pogrebin's name likely stems from the Russian verb погребать [pogrebat'], "to bury", due to its effect on human emotions.
