A Stoppie is a maneuver that can be done with bicycles and motorcycles; performing a stoppie gives a bonus, similar to doing a stunt jump, two wheel double, or wheelie.

To perform a stoppie, press and hold the left dialog stick forward to stand on the bike then brake. Performing a stoppie while going down hill can cause the driver to gain too much speed while braking causing the back wheel to snap forward resulting in the driver losing control of the bike and falling off. The longer one holds the stoppie, the larger the monetary bonus. It's generally a good idea to get up some speed first, then stand on the bike and begin braking. To maximize the distance and time holding the stoppie, tap the brake quickly enough to maintain the stoppie but slowly enough that bike is able to keep its forward momentum.

This maneuver can be done in all main installments of the series from GTA Vice City onwards, specifically: Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, Grand Theft Auto IV, Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City, and Grand Theft Auto V.

Stoppie-Capable Motorcycles[]

The following are motorcycles that can perform a stoppie:

Any bicycle can also be used to perform a stoppie, with the best one to use is the BMX.

Performing Stoppies[]

3D Universe[]

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City[]

In Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, triggering a stoppie reward requires driver to drive on the front wheel of a motorcycle for at least 2 seconds. In some cases, if moving quickly enough, the game will ignore the first tap of the back wheel.

When calculating the reward for a stoppie, both the distance traveled and the time performing the stoppie are factors. The distance is measured in feet and the distance traveled during the stoppie gets multiplied by 0.15, and the time holding the stoppie gets multiplied by 0.5. Then, to finish the calculation, any decimal on the cash reward gets removed and the driver is rewarded the cash bonus for the stoppie.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas[]

In Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, triggering a stoppie reward requires driver to drive on the front wheel of a motorcycle for at least 2 seconds.

When calculating the reward for a stoppie, only the distance traveled during the stoppie is factored into the reward. The distance is measured in feet and the distance traveled during the stoppie gets multiplied by 0.15. Then, to finish the calculation, any decimal on the cash reward gets removed and the driver is rewarded the cash bonus for the stoppie.
