Gojipedia is a Godzilla-oriented encyclopedia. As it is a wiki, this means that everyone can edit any article at any time. The Gojipedia policy has a set of community guidelines on user experience, navigation, and positive user conduct. This page outlines the guidelines all users must follow while on the wiki. Please note that these guidelines apply to all spaces on the wiki. The Terms of Use and related policies are also active here.
General
- Be kind and treat people with respect. Please do not argue, harass, insult, incite, purposefully offend, threaten, over-criticize, or disrespect users or their opinions. Keep discussions civil and be open-minded. All users are entitled to their opinions, attitudes, and preferences. Essentially, treat others as you wish to be treated.
- Assume good faith. A fundamental principle and a core policy on Gojipedia, assume that all edits are made with good intentions even if they are wrong (excluding obvious vandalism). Always expect that people are trying to help the wiki, not hurt it, as well as taking the time to think about the person from their point of view.
- In compliance with the Terms of Use, users must be at least 13 years of age in order to create an account and contribute to this wiki. If you reside in the European Economic Area (excluding the UK), then you must be at least 16 years old.
- No intolerance of any kind. Hate speech, bullying, slurs, sexism, harassment, ableism, homophobia, racism, discrimination, and other derogatory attitudes targeted toward any person or group are absolutely prohibited. Rudeness is also not acceptable, unless the user will properly correct themselves.
- Minor profanity is allowed, but they must be in accordance with the verbal offense guidelines. Words such as the f-word, c-word, and derogatory female s-word are not allowed. If they are mentioned, they must be censored, ex: f***.
- In addition, please curtail discussion/reference to real-life or personal matters to ensure users' sensitivities are addressed and retain focus on the wiki's topic.
- Vandalism, spamming, or trolling is not allowed. If a user does this and/or is being disruptive, do not engage. Undo any vandalism the user may have caused and alert an admin immediately. In scenarios where they persist in bothering users and/or staff is unable to respond, you can reach out to SOAP for immediate action.
- Sexually explicit content is not allowed. This wiki can be visited by any demographic, children included, and caution must be taken into account.
- Do not evade bans using multiple accounts.
- Please do not share, post, or discuss leaked content. This wiki recognizes the labor of people working behind the scenes, as such we always mention from legitimate news or sources to view it. Link or mention unofficial ways to view, share, or post content (ex. seeing full movies unofficially) is not allowed in any way.
- Do not post, link, or advertise third-party websites. In accordance with the Terms of Use, links designed to solicit visiting a nondescript non-wiki website or non-FANDOM wiki is prohibited. External links are meant to be a relevant continuation of the subject and must have a description provided.
Community
Getting to meet the community is a great way to connect and meet exciting new people on the platform. These are some of the guidelines to help you out as you get to know the plethora of people here.
- Privacy: For your own safety, it is recommended that you keep personal information of yourself confidential, i.e. do not post things such as school, home address, age, etc. Remember, anything on this website can be seen by anyone on the internet. So please consider this before expressing yourself to the community.
- Respect the staff when they ask you to stop doing something harmful or disruptive. The staff are here to help users, and serve with best intentions. If they are asking you to stop, consider what they are saying is because they are looking after you.
- Do not edit other users' profile pages: Don't edit another user's profile page without their approval unless reverting vandalism from someone else or if you're assisting in fixing something that is broken on their page. If a user page has content that is against the rules, notify an administrator to fix it.
- Do not spread slander or misinformation about another user. You are not allowed to say negative things about other users anywhere on wiki. If an administrator notices something insulting on your user page, you will be kindly asked to remove it. Refusing to do so will lead to the removal of the content without further input. Impersonating or fabricating false information about other users is not allowed in any way. In the event there is a disagreement with different sides of the case, refer to the block policy guidelines on how to resolve it.
- Avoid using multiple accounts. If a user is to operate more than one account, the accounts must be openly and publicly disclosed on the user pages of both accounts. Accidentally editing from an IP while unaware that one wasn't logged in is generally not considered sockpuppetry.
Conversations
These rules apply to comments and message walls. For information on blogs, see below.
- Avoid reviving a discussion or comment by replying (also known as "necroposting") if the proceeding post is one month old or more.
- The topic of discussion should be clearly defined in the thread title or have some relation to the content found within the article page.
- Jibberish, inappropriate, and off-topic replies are subject to editing and/or deletion.
- Be sure to provide legible content in your post/comment. Pointless comments such as "First", "Second", or what could be seen as randomly inserted characters will be removed. Furthermore, keep your posts at a reasonable length.
- Threads containing fanon content can be submitted to the Discussions.
- Do not delete messages posted by staff members on your message wall, as this is considered deleting evidence and/or information.
Editing
Editing is an integral component of wiki experience. Everyone who visits the wiki is encouraged to contribute with accurate and reliable information. Please see the Style Guide, Media guide, and Citation guide for complete overview of our editing policies.
- Constructive edits are encouraged. Edits should be constructive and made with the purpose of improving an article's content. While an article can be collaboratively edited over time, please try to format an article and with sufficient content to work with upon creating one.
- Grammar and syntax. Gojipedia is written in American English and follows the rules of the language. To ensure a uniform and professional wiki experience, please properly format articles and use of grammar. Because this is an American wiki, please refer to the Oxford punctuation. However, if the article in question is based on a British film or publication, any quotes or citations should be in British English.
- Do not engage in edit wars: Avoid outright reverting edits that seem to have been made in good faith unless it is very obvious vandalism. If you must do so, be sure to explain why, either in the edit summary or on the user's message wall. Give respectful criticism so they can learn how they can improve their contributions if they make poor edits.
- Likewise, if your edits are reverted, please assume that it was for a good reason. If you are not sure, it's always best to ask. Assisting uses not only helps them become a better editor, it helps them feel they are cared for by members of the community.
- Please do not add fan-made content. No fan fiction is allowed in Gojipedia's articles, as it is not a fanon wiki. This is to prevent confusion between fan-made material and actual canon pages. If you wish to add fanfiction articles, then do so in the discussions, or other fanon websites.
- No off-topic articles are allowed. This is not a wiki on every kaiju franchise. Material that has not been involved with/associated with the Godzilla franchise is generally off-topic and will be deleted by staff. If you want to find more non-Godzilla content, visit the wikis on the subject.
Usernames
Users who contribute must have appropriate usernames that abide by the general guidelines. Usernames may not be misleading, impersonating offensive, hostile, promotional, or disruptive. Usernames may take the form of impersonating another user, claiming false affiliation with a person or organization, or claiming a position of authority on this or any other wiki.
