Prismatic spray was an evocation spell that could affect multiple targets with a variety of effects.[2]

Effects[]

A cone of multicolored rays emanated from the caster's hand, hitting creatures in their paths at random. Multiple rays could hit the same target. There were seven possible colors, each either dealing damage from a different element or causing a different effect:[2]

Red
Inflicted fire damage.[2]
Orange
Inflicted acid damage.[2]
Yellow
Inflicted lightning damage.[2]
Green
Inflicted poison damage.[2]
Blue
Inflicted cold damage.[2]
Indigo
A creature affected by this ray became paralyzed and was subsequently turned to stone.[2]
Violet
A creature struck by this ray became blind, and could be subsequently banished to another plane.[2]

Components[]

The spell required only verbal and somatic components.[2]

History[]

The spell was attributed to Netherese arcanist Anglin of Seventon in −1929 DR and was originally called Anglin's spray.[1]

Notable Uses[]

During the Time of Troubles of 1358 DR, Luna confronted the false avatar of Selûne and the two broke into a spell-battle. Luna tried a prismatic spray, but it could not penetrate the other's magical defenses.[7]
