Anteos (pronounced: /ˈɑːntisAN-tee-oh-s[3]) was a noble family within the city of Waterdeep during the 14th century DR.

Organization[]

House Anteos was ennobled in the Year of the Cockatrice, 1248 DR when the Lords of Waterdeep recognized several merchant houses within the city's nobility.[4]

As of the Year of the Prince, 1357 DR Dulbravvan was leader and patriarch of the family. Dulbravvan's younger brother, Korras Anteos, was replaced as heir by Dulbravvan II, Dulbravvan and Ranaya's infant son, prior to 1372 DR.[5] During this time there were approximately 28 living members of the house.[1]

Activities[]

They were prominent traders and money changers throughout the region, but had in the past had earned their fortune through slavery.[5]

Base of Operations[]

The family had an estate in the North Ward of the city between Anteos Lane and Trollkill Street.[6][7]

History[]

The same year the house was ennobled, the Year of the Cockatrice (1248 DR), they were requested to renounce their slave trading and their participation in it. House Anteos were forced once again, upon the restoration of the Lords’ rule, to renounce slave trading in the Year of the Wagon (1273 DR).[8]

Prior to 1357 DR, Dulbravvan and Ranaya had a stillborn son. During this time Dulbravvan's younger brother was made temporary heir before their infant son, Dulbravvan II, was born and took his place as heir to the house by 1372 DR.[5][1]
