Masked Floral Cluster Birthday Card & Two Floral Gift Envelopes

The SU! 'Butterflies & Flowers' Layering Decorative Masks really intrigued me when I saw them in the January June 2022 Mini Catalogue and I was eager to try them.  I thought they'd be great to use as a project for Lesley and Wendy too so I made this card for them to make today when they visited me..  Wow, what a fabulous end result when you layer stencils using different ink colours, you achieve a beautiful depth - really impressive!  Here's my card and envelope together.

Dena Rekow from the Creativity Cave has this wonderful 'Cool Techniques with Stencils (Decorative Masks) YouTube video which totally inspired me.  I created my flower cluster first using the masks, blending brushes and Pale Papaya, Flirty Flamingo and Granny Apple Green inks. I trimmed the white panel to size and used a curved die from the 'Basic Borders' die set to add interest to the bottom of the panel.  Although I'd added Flirty Flamingo ink to my masked flowers the CS didn't seem a good match when I came to place the mat layer on the Pale Papaya card base.  I decided to use Calypso Coral CS instead as that was a much better match.  I dry embossed the Coral panel using the mask, added some Granny Apple Green ribbon and glued the panel to the card base.  I popped up the white panel and the sentiment circle.  As a finishing touch I added Calypso Coral 'Artistry Blooms' sequins to the flower centres.

Here's a closer look at the floral cluster - so very pretty!

I used the same technique to decorate the inside of the card and the envelope.  I positioned the floral background mask, placed a piece of paper with a torn edge and applied Pale Papaya and Flirty Flamingo inks using blending brushes.  Here's the inside of the card.

Here's the envelope.

I treated Lesley and Wendy to a packet of Iridescent Rhinestone Jewels and I wanted to package them nicely.  I made floral envelopes using paper from the 'Flower & Field' DSP pack, added tags made with the 'Tailor Made Tags' die set and tied the envelopes closed with wide Shaded Spruce ribbon.

Here's just one envelope.  The colour combo is Seaside Spray, Misty Moonlight and Shaded Spruce along with black and white.

Here's a closer look at the tag.  I used stamps from the SU! 'To a Wild Rose' stamp set for the flowers.  The sentiment comes from the 'Fancy Phrases' set. I added Shaded Spruce Holiday Rhinestone jewels as a finishing touch.

Rainbows Happy Birthday Card

Another rainbows and clouds card - I just love these happy, colourful products!  This is a birthday card I gave to a friend.  Here's the card and envelope together.

Here's the card.  I CASEd Dena Rekow's card which can be seen on her blog HERE.  Dena shares a great tip about die cutting the rainbow pieces in the video linked on her blog post.  The clouds, rainbow and sentiment label are all popped up.  The iridescent rhinestone jewels are a lovely finishing touch!

Here's the inside of the card.  I used the clouds border die to give a fancy edge to the white panel, fussy cut the rainbow from a piece of  'Sunshine & Rainbows' patterned paper and glued it to the white panel.  I stamped and die cut the sentiment and glued that in place.

As well as adding some patterned paper to the flap of the envelope I added a name label.

Supplies:
Stamps: SU! 'In Your Words' set
CS: SU! Bermuda Bay, Granny Apple Green, Mango Melody, Misty Moonlight, Polished Pink & Basic White

Flowers Of Friendship Bay Window Card

This is the second fancy fold card I made for Lesley and Wendy to make during our crafty day.  I've seen these bay window cards popping up all over and was keen to have a go myself.  I watched this fab video from Lisa Curcio to get the instructions and I then tweaked the measurements slightly to better suit UK A4 sized CS.  This blog post of Lisa's shows several designs of bay window cards - you'll see I CASEd Lisa's Flowers of Friendship card!

Here's the card and envelope together.  I used two patterned papers from the 'Pattern Party' DSP pack, the beautiful yellow floral damask and the pretty rainbow stripes.  Such a nice touch to add patterned paper to the envelope flap!

Here's the card folded flat ready to go in an envelope.  I love a dimensional fancy fold card that folds flat!  I used Stampin' Blends alcohol markers to colour in the flowers and leaves.  I used the matching 'Flowers & Leaves' punch to cut out the small flowers and leaves but I fussy cut the large floral image.  I popped all the images up and added rhinestone jewels to the flower centres and added two of the Brushed Brass Butterflies embellishments to the centre panel.

Here's a side view.

Here's a front view.

Here's another side view.  The black square is popped up on Dimensionals and the lip of the card flap tucks underneath that so the card can be displayed with the bay window shape.  It's similar to an easel card mechanism where you have a 'stop'.  I placed more rhinestone jewels on the sentiment circle to add extra sparkle.

Here's the inside of the card.  I used Flirty Flamingo CS for the sentiment rectangle.

Here's a view from the top.

We had a lovely day together and have already scheduled dates in for February, March and April!  It's so easy to arrange get togethers now I'm not working in retail and I don't have to work weekends!

Supplies:
Stamps: SU! 'Flowers of Friendship' & 'Peaceful Moments' sets
CS: SU! Basic Black, Flirty Flamingo & Basic White
Patterned paper: SU! 'Pattern Party' DSP
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Stampin' Blends Light & Dark alcohol markers
Tools: SU! 'Stitched Shapes' & 'Stitched Rectangles' die sets, circle punch, paper trimmer with scoring blade
Embellishments & Accessories: SU! Brushed Brass Butterflies, Basic Rhinestone Jewels, Dimensionals

Hello Friend Pinwheel Tower Card

Last weekend Lesley and Wendy came over for a crafty day and I made two fancy fold cards for them to make.  The first was a Pinwheel Tower card featuring Sale-A-Bration goodies you can get for free with a qualifying SU! purchase - the 'Friendly Hello' stamp set and 12" x 12" DSP.  Here's the card and envelope together.

Here's a view from the top so you can see the pinwheel tower construction.  I have Pinwheel Tower Card instructions on my Tutorials page.

Here's the first pinwheel panel.  I used Petal Pink, Pool Party and Granny Apple Green Stampin' Blends alcohol markers to colour in the stamped images.  I fussy cut the flowers and leaves and popped them up.  I also fussy cut and popped up the Hello friend sentiment.  I used a Stampin' Blends marker to colour the dot above the i black.  It doesn't show up in the photo but the flowers are really shimmery because I added clear Wink of Stella to the petals.

Here's the second panel.

Here's the third panel.

Here's the last panel for the sentiment.  I coloured the small flowers with a Pool Party Stampin' Blends marker.

Supplies:
Stamps: SU! 'Friendly Hello' set
CS: SU! Basic Black & Basic White
Patterned paper: SU! 'Friendly Hello' DSP
Ink: SU! Granny Apple Green, Memento Tuxedo Black, Stampin' Blends alcohol markers

Autumn Leaf Trio Happy Birthday Card

I just had to have another go at the baby wipe re-inker technique using a solid image stamp after I'd made this snowflake card.  This time I've made a birthday card using leaves and autumnal colours.  Here's the card and envelope together.

Kelly Acheson talks about the quality of baby wipes used for the technique in her video and I bought some Huggies wipes to try this time rather than the Wilko wipes - both wipes have worked fine for the technique.  I laid just one wipe onto my silicone craft sheet and dropped Cherry Cobbler, Crushed Curry and Old Olive inks onto the wipe to create my ink pad.  The great thing about this technique is you can stamp several images - I stamped six leaves altogether.  After stamping the leaves I used the 'Stitched Leaves' dies to cut out the shape and to add the stitched detail.  I decided to use three leaves on my card and I determined my layout.  I made an Old Olive card base and added a panel of plaid paper and a strip of Cherry Cobbler CS.  I die cut a white stitched rectangle and glued two leaves directly on it and popped the central leaf up on Dimensionals.  I die cut the Crushed Curry sentiment label using a shape from the SU! 'Messages' die and I popped it up.  To finish the front I added a green linen thread bow.

Here's a closer look at the leaves.  I really love how they turned out!

Here's the inside of the card.

Here's the envelope.

Rainbow Strips Flower Happy Birthday Card

Dena Rekow from the Creativity Cave shared a lovely card on her August 2nd 2021 YouTube video and I just had to CASE the card and make my own version!  Here's the card and envelope together.

Here's the card.  I die cut stitched rectangles from Polished Pink, Pale Papaya, Pear Pizzazz, Pool Party, Fresh Freesia and Highland Heather  CS and stamped a floral image on each panel using VersaMark ink for a subtle tone on tone look.  I glued the rainbow strips to a panel of Basic White CS, added a stitched zig zag border using a die from the SU! 'Basic Borders' die set and glued that to a Basic Black card base.  I loved Dena's idea of stacking a number of fancy flower die cuts onto one of the solid flower die cuts, the dimension is fabulous!  I added die cut leaves as well and I popped an Opal Round gem in the centre of the flower.  The sentiment is heat embossed with white powder and cut with a fishtail flag die.  This card will likely be a RAK card sent to the U.S. so I didn't pop any element up - the flower has great dimension already!

Here's a closer look at the flower.

Here's the inside of the card.

Here's the envelope.  I added die cut stitched rectangles as an address label element to go with the stamped floral images.

What a great card to make, I'm already planning a Christmas snowflake version in blue, aqua and purple rather than a rainbow colour scheme!

Supplies:
Stamps: SU! 'Shaded Summer' & 'Fancy Phrases' sets
CS: SU! Basic Black, Fresh Freesia, Highland Heather, Pale Papaya, Pear Pizzazz, Pool Party, Polished Pink & Basic White (regular & thick)
Ink: VersaMark, VersaFine Onyx Black
Tools: SU! 'Summer Shadows', 'Basic Borders' & 'Stitched Rectangle' die sets, MFT 'Fishtail Flags' Stax die set
Embellishments & Accessories: SU! white embossing powder, Opal Rounds gem

Alcohol Ink Background Floral Birthday Card

Another alcohol ink background birthday card.  I precut some A6 pieces of vellum so I have a supply ready to grab and while I had the supplies out I couldn't resist making another alcohol ink background!  Here's the card and envelope together.

Here's the card.  I made the background for this card a little bit differently.  I used a spritzer bottle to apply the alcohol onto the vellum rather than dabbing the alcohol on with a flat paintbrush.  I found that I needed to spritz a lot to get the ink to move and blend so my vellum panel got very wet and really curled up.  I don't like the look as much, I prefer the veining look I get when using the flat paintbrush and the vellum curled up a lot.  I did manage to get it flat though so I carried on and made a card.  I taped the vellum to a piece of Basic White CS and cut the panel out using a stitched rectangle die.  I added a black floral die cut, some Basic Black shimmer ribbon and popped up a heat embossed sentiment label.  I added a sweet little die cut butterfly and then added a clear epoxy droplet to the label to finish

Here's a closer look at the ink background.  Using a spritzer bottle does have an advantage in that you don't get any colour contaminated alcohol.  However, I will continue to decant some alcohol into a small jar and dab it on with a flat paintbrush as I much prefer the look achieved with that method and the vellum doesn't curl.

Here's the inside of the card.  I die cut the leaves and snipped the die cut shape apart so I had part of the design for the inside of the card...

...and part of the design for the envelope.

Supplies:
Stamps: SU! 'Artistically Inked' & 'Happiest of Birthdays' sets
CS: SU! Basic Black & Basic White
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, VersaMark, SU! Stampin' Blends alcohol ink markers in Dark Flirty Flamingo, Dark Mango Melody & Dark Melon Mambo
Tools: SU! 'Artistic' & 'Nature's Thoughts' die sets, 'Messages' die, Claina Palmer 'A6 Double Stitched Nested Dies' set, spritzer bottle
Embellishments & Accessories: 99% isopropyl alcohol, SU! white embossing powder, Basic Black shimmer ribbon, clear epoxy droplet, Dimensionals

Leaves & Butterfly Inside Z Fold Aperture Card & Two Gift Bags

A while ago I made two Inside Z Fold Aperture cards (CARD ONE and CARD TWO) with alcohol ink backgrounds which I gave to my lovely friends Lesley and Wendy.  They obviously liked the cards because they asked if they could come over for me to show them how it's done!  I made a very similar card for them to make but changed it up a bit.  They came over last week for their crafty lesson on alcohol ink backgrounds and the fancy fold card and we had a wonderful time!  Here's the card and envelope together.

Here's the card.  I've used Melon Mambo, Basic Black and white as my colout combo and used dies from the SU! 'Brilliant Wings' and 'Artistic' die sets.  I absolutely love the look of dramatic black die cut shapes against an alcohol ink background!  I used nesting stitched rectangle dies to cut the aperture and frame.  I have the SU! 'Stitched Rectangles' die set but here I've used the Claina Palmer 'A6 Double Stitched Nested Dies' set as it's perfectly sized for UK A6 sized cards.  I stamped the sentiment onto black CS with VersaMark, heat embossed it with white embossing powder and cut out the label shape using the SU! 'Messages' die.  I glued the label in place across the frame and added a gold Gilded Gem to the left side.

Here's a closer look at the alcohol ink background.  I scribbled Dark Mango Melody, Dark Flirty Flamingo and Dark Melon Mambo Stampin' Blends markers over an A6 sized piece of vellum and dabbed 99% isopropyl alcohol over the panel with a flat brush.  It's important to use alcohol over 90%, the 70% alcohol curls the vellum up too much and you can't get it flat! I dabbed the Mango areas first, then the Flamingo and finally the Melon.  The alcohol does get coloured so instead of dipping the brush in the bottle I decant a small amount of alcohol into a small jar and dip my brush in the jar and then get rid of the muddy coloured alcohol when I'm done.  I've found that if I make my alcohol ink background on an A6 sized vellum panel I have enough for the image panel and for strips to go on the inside of the card and on the envelope.  I cut off the strips first and then taped a piece of Basic White CS behind the vellum and die cut the stitched rectangle.  I've taken a few sheets of A4 vellum and cut them into quarters so I have A6 sized panels all ready to go for when I want to make an alcohol ink background card.

Here's the card open.  To add stability to the sentiment label I die cut a second black label and glued it behind the label on the front.

Here's a top view of the card to show how it's put together.  The Melon Mambo card base has an aperture cut out of the front and a Z Fold white card base (cut slightly smaller than the Melon Mambo card base) is glued inside.  The main stitched rectangle image layer is nestled inside the aperture and glued just to the Z Fold panel on the right.

Here's the inside of the card.

Here's the envelope.

I made gift bags for Lesley and Wendy which held some little treats.  I used the dies from the SU! 'All Dressed Up!' set and the fun pink animal print paper from the 'Pattern Party' DSP pack.  I punched flowers from the 'Strawberry' builder punch, shaped them a bit and added them to the silver foil die cut label.  Rhinestone jewels in the centres added that all important sparkle!

We've already scheduled our next crafty get together, Lesley and Wendy will be making Double Wonder Christmas cards next time!

Rose Gold Metallic Floral Die Cut Birthday Card

I love the large floral die in the SU! 'Artistic' die set and I thought it would be stunning cut out of Rose Gold Metallic specialty paper.  Oh my word, metallic specialty paper is NOT ideal to use with intricate dies, I had to painstakingly poke out every piece from the die cut and it took me ages and I tore a bit!  I think the backing paper is what prevents the pieces releasing easily from the die cut but lesson learned for sure!  Anyway, I persevered because the sparkly metallic die cut IS stunning!  Here's the card and envelope together.

I made the card base from Calypso Coral CS and used stitched rectangle dies to cut panels of  Rose Gold Metallic specialty paper and Pale Papaya CS and glued the floral die cut onto the Pale Papaya panel.  I stamped the sentiment in Early Espresso ink on Calypso Coral CS, die cut that with a 'Tasteful Labels' die, added some Faux Suede Trim and popped the label up on Dimensionals - positioning the label to cover up the torn piece of the die cut!  I added a small butterfly die cut using a die from the 'Nature's Thoughts' set in the Rose Gold paper and as it was small it was fine to poke the bits out!  I added three Champagne Jewels to the label as the finishing touch to the front.

Here's the inside of the card with another 'Tasteful Labels' sentiment and a butterfly.

For the envelope I die cut a Rose Gold solid butterfly and layered an Early Espresso outline butterfly on top.  I cut a pretty circle of Pale Papaya CS using a die from the 'Tasteful Labels' set and layered that onto a larger Calypso Coral die cut circle.

Supplies:
Stamps: SU! 'Peaceful Moments' set
CS: SU! Calypso Coral, Early Espresso, Pale Papaya & Basic White, Rose Gold Metallic specialty paper
Ink: SU! Early Espresso
Tools: SU! 'Artistic', 'Brilliant Wings', 'Layering Circles', 'Nature's Thoughts' & 'Tasteful Labels' die sets, Claina Palmer 'A6 Double Stitched Nested Dies' set
Embellishments & Accessories: SU! Faux Suede Trim, Champagne Rhinestone Jewels, Dimensionals
