A Bahamut, as formed by the coalescence of three Whispers: Whisper Rubrum, Whisper Viridi, and Whisper Croceo.

Enemy Intel

Whisper Bahamut is a boss in Final Fantasy VII Remake, fought at the end of Chapter 18, "Destiny's Crossroads". It is summoned to battle when Whisper Rubrum, Whisper Croceo and Whisper Viridi morph into it during the third battle against them. Defeating Whisper Bahamut, splits the trio and they return to the HP values they held before the merger. Whisper Bahamut is a retexture of the summon Bahamut the player can fight in Chadley's VR missions if they complete all Battle Intels. The Whispers' Bahamut is multicolored over the black-and-purple summon, with a red head like the Whisper Rubrum, a yellow chest like the Whisper Croceo, and green extremities like the Whisper Viridi.

Battle[]

Whisper Bahamut is fought with Cloud, Tifa and Aerith. When the three Whispers—Rubrum, Viridi and Croceo—are faced the third time, they morph into Whisper Bahamut whom the player must defeat to split the trio back up again. Whisper Bahamut is fast and a summon is ready once it is fought. It can stay out of melee range and use megaflare and initially resists damage, though once pressured (using a limit break from Cloud or Tifa), it becomes vulnerable.

Strategy[]

Aerith (and the rest of the party) can use level 3 spells, like Blizzaga Blizzaga, to deal great damage. (Blizzaga may be a good choice because of the previous Whisper forms' elemental absorptions, as ice magic can safely be used against any form.) She can set up an Arcane Ward to cast spells twice from within it. Linking Ice Materia Ice Materia with HP Absorption Materia HP Absorption Materia or MP Absorption Materia MP Absorption Materia (or both) helps magic-casting go further. The player can also stack her with Complete Materia Complete Materia that help her casting, like Magic Up Materia Magic Up Materia and MP Up Materia MP Up Materia.

Cloud and Tifa can support Aerith with her casting and use healing and buffing magic. Manaward Manaward and Regen Regen can be helpful, and the player can link either Barrier Materia Barrier Materia or Healing Materia Healing Materia with Magnify Materia Magnify Materia; Cloud is good for a set-up like this, as he is in every party configuration throughout the final battles. Haste Haste is also good cast on Aerith if not the rest as well. However, in hard mode, Bahamut can remove buffs with a beam it shoots from its eyes. Cloud and Tifa can try to draw Bahamut's attention away from Aerith while she keeps casting.

Etymology[]

Bahamut (Arabic بهموت Bahamūt) originated as an enormous whale in ancient pre-Islamic Arabian mythology. Upon Bahamut's back stands a bull with four thousand eyes, ears, noses, mouths, tongues and feet called Kujuta (also spelled "Kuyutha") (compared with the pair of Behemoth and Leviathan). Between each of these is a distance of a 500-year journey. On the back of Kujuta is a mountain of ruby. Atop this mountain is an angel who carries six hells, earth, and seven heavens on its shoulders.

Another version of the Arabic story is that Bahamut is indeed a dragon and he stands on a whale called Liwash.

In modern times, the game Dungeons & Dragons is responsible for reimagining Bahamut as the king of dragons, a benevolent Platinum Dragon; the opposite of the malevolent Tiamat, the five-headed Chromatic Queen of Dragons.
