Comic and Art[]
I don't know if you follow xkcd, but I thought you might like to see this, being a fan of chemistry. There's no way those biologists will beat us, eh? :P
Also, seeing that you're going to participate in the Final Fantasy 500 thing, does that mean you enjoy drawing? I'd love to see any of your works, if you have uploaded any ^_^.
8bit BlackMage - Beyond the Sky TALK - Why do chemists call helium, curium, and barium 'the medical elements'? Because, if you can't 'helium' or 'curium', you... um... ._.; - {{{time}}}
It is..... so AWESOME! I tried to search for more science ones but I ran into some strips with... um.... other.. um, scintillating topics o.o I think I remember seeing one like this a Faethin's page; chemists were above biologists on the intelligence scale ^^ As for my drawing skills, I used to sketch quite a lot when I was younger, mostly of video game characters. I drew a pretty mean Kirby ^^ For some reason, I stopped when I moved to Wisconsin (perhaps subzero temperatures impairs artistic flair...). Really, though, I'm not a very good artist, I have not taken a single art class in high school (too much science fills in the gaps ^^), and I haven't uploaded any images on online sites. Still, though, I think I can give Zodiark a whirl, provided I spend enough time on it and have a image to look at. I need to find my sketchbook first o.o"" EDIT: Yuan, which character are you drawing? I wouldn't worry about your "style", it's probably superscripts above mine...
Kuja[]
I think I found his anorexic half-brother, :p. Drake Clawfang 05:57, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
- Shouldn't it be his undead anorexic half-brother? And if Kuja isn't anorexic, then I don't know who is. And I found Vivi's evil levitating cousin. 8bit 19:48, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
Kana[]
Knowing that you're going through the FFIV enemies and looking at the kana and romaji, I thought you might like to have a look at Hecko's handy-dandy flash program (scroll to the bottom). I haven't used it (I'm learning Japanese already), but I recommended it to Henry.
Also, I've been looking at this blog. It's focused mostly on medicine and comics, so I'm not sure if you'll be interested...but have a peek if you have time. Oh, and I hope your Zodiark picture is going well too!
8bit BlackMage - Beyond the Sky TALK - Why do chemists call helium, curium, and barium 'the medical elements'? Because, if you can't 'helium' or 'curium', you... um... ._.; - {{{time}}}
Eh... I only makes the template work, not write the kana... T_T You know, I kind of wish my school was offering Japanese as a foreign language. I liked looking at the "brushstrokes?" for each symbol in Hecko's program. 1... 2... 3... sweet XD I'm too lazy to pick up a new language, though. Maybe when I dump Spanish in college.... ^^ I don't watch House, but I laughed at the analysis of breathing through straws and digging up old comics with obviously overdramatized panels. As for the Zodiark picture.... well, I made a sketch in my sketchbook, and I've spent the whole week mulling over what position I want the wings in. This is why 8bit is not in an art class...I'm having such grand delusions in my head about how I want it to look, but most likely I will utterly fail at depth perception and the coloring will be lackluster. Hope your drawing is proceeding faster than mine is XD
I thought you might be interested in the kana because I saw your edit summary about "Purin Purinsessu" or whatever the romaji was. Kana is fun, but kanji is even better (alright, biased because I'm Chinese and I love Han characters ^_^;).
I've almost finished my picture...but I'm not very happy with it, because I realised I can't draw "action" scenes >_< Or things in perspective...or people...or armour.... But one must endeavour to succeed! Finally, have a look at this. And I apologise for constantly spamming links... The alt-text says it all "Scienz. Ur doin it wrong." All this talking with you makes me miss EoS. Hope we can work on another story soon ^_^.
8bit BlackMage - Beyond the Sky TALK - Why do chemists call helium, curium, and barium 'the medical elements'? Because, if you can't 'helium' or 'curium', you... um... ._.; - {{{time}}}
No, no! You must keep me supplied with these sciencey That's right, English class, I has invented word links! They are my only source of academic entertainment outside of homework and school. :P And I can't thank you enough for xkcd. (Teh cuttlefish!) I really enjoyed going through all the IV enemies and relating the kana to the english, and sometimes being able to deduce what syllable of the romaji translated to what English word (well, I got purin, at least ^^) I'm also sort of a handwriting enthusiast, seeing how it seems that I'm the only male in my high school who enjoys writing in legible cursive. Are you "fluent" in kana? When I think about EoS I get sad :( I remember thinking about some scenes where SCM and TSD soar away on an airborne
This picture always cracks me up. Also, these two comics. I'm also glad that no one on this wiki is as bad as this...at least I hope so.
Assuming you've gotten past all those links (ehehehe...^_^;), Padma's "reveal" is (highlight to read): "She" is actually a male crossdresser, who took on his twin's personality through a bizarre event. He also eventually dumps Aeon for Diablo (poor Diablo) ...Don't look at me like that. It was Diablo's idea, I swear! I'm kind of sad that EoS never got an ending, but I think I'd prefer to start a new story. EoS was rather...messy, but had a heap of fun concepts. Maybe we will start another story (although it's actually summer here in Australia...and too hot for my liking =.=;) Yes, I'm fluent in katakana and hiragana, but I'm not good with kanji. I quit Chinese lessons a long time ago, and haven't been able to find classes for Cantonese :(. Doesn't stop me from putting my Chinese name on artworks, though: 阮 翠 珊. Chinese characters are just too pretty ^_^;. Oh, and a quick note: Japanese has 4 of what, for lack of a better term, I'll call alphabets, in modern use. Kanji are Chinese characters, katakana is for loan words and names, hiragana is basically the default. Romaji is the rendering of Japanese words into the Latin alphabet. Most Final Fantasy enemies have their names written in katakana, so you could say they've been taken from English, then translated from Japanese to English again. It's a bit confusing, which is why there are so many translation errors... Here's your username rendered in katakana, just for fun ^_^: エイト・ ビット・ブラックメイジュ. eito-bitto-burakkumeiju. Try sounding it out ;).
8bit BlackMage - Beyond the Sky TALK - Why do chemists call helium, curium, and barium 'the medical elements'? Because, if you can't 'helium' or 'curium', you... um... ._.; - {{{time}}}
I should not drink Pepsi immediately before reading some of these comics. Don't know if you have ever played Mario Kart, but I found the "Cause of Profanity" pie chart and this. I love spectroscopy T-T .................."Padma"...............................Uh..........o.o....perhaps it's better we didn't get to that point................... Yeah, I think next time we start a story we won't have dilettantes who dabble in it, introduce their own one-dimensional character, and then leave it to us to deal with for the rest of the story. Also, 8bit will not be obsessive-compulsive and introduce a tedious 26-Esper hunt. Also, I would rather have a heat wave than the -20 degree F and wind chills Wisconsin has been experiencing as of late. XD I miss Hawaii... *tear tear* Let's see... EYE'-toh BIT'-to BUR'-akk (LOL) oo-MAY'-joo? "Black Mage" in kana = win. It could probably be an onomatopoeia for an assortment of elemental spells :P
Almost -29 degrees Celsius?! I'm glad I don't live in places with crazy weather like you and Chief...I think I prefer to bake... Thanks for fixing those links, by the way. I finished them later - there were more than 400! O.O;
I've actually read all the xkcd comics. They're brilliant, aren't they? I think you and I need to watch out, though...look at this. Out of curiosity, you're in your final year of high school, right? Are you hoping to do something science related in uni/college? Hm, if we write another story, maybe we could try a different genre...cyberpunk, perhaps; or historical; or maybe even a story about scientists "shipwrecked" in space, encountering strange and wonderful new environments and races... (alright, the last one's wishful thinking.) Finally, it's "ay - to bit - to boo - rahk - koo may - joo". Japanese sounds so funny when you mix it with English. But "ISU GOO', GOO', BERI GOO'!" :P
8bit BlackMage - Beyond the Sky TALK - Why do chemists call helium, curium, and barium 'the medical elements'? Because, if you can't 'helium' or 'curium', you... um... ._.; - {{{time}}}
Hmm, you know what's cool? Both your post and my previous post were exactly 1000 bytes. Operating on the same wavelength o.o The "Water" must have been a bit of a doozy XD As for the comic, everyone knows chemists would be +100 points. Because we're just that cool. And crazy. And we have an abundance of corrosive substances on our side, whereas physics majors have little pendulums and metersticks. ^^ I actually was accepted to a university in Wisconsin in the city of Madison, where they have a really good chemistry program. There's a particle accelerator there, for peoples to look at plasma <3 Hopefully I can find a specific field in chemistry that really interests me, along with a reliable job that draws on that area of study :) Are you planning to remain in Australia for the post-secondary education? I like your new planet idea :P What's cyberpunk?
You need someone to be on the same wavelength, now that Adam's gone :P (I miss him...)
I'm actually more of maths person than chemistry (I know, I know...how disappointing. Chem > Physics and Biology, though.) I'm insanely jealous that you're going to have access to a particle accelerator *_*. Me, I'm aiming for a MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery). It's still a long way off, though. The course is 7 - 9 years (assuming you don't fail any of the year exams...I'm not looking forward to psychiatry *gulp*) Cyberpunk is a genre, sci-fi but with a focus on "street" settings as well as computing and technology. Think "Blade Runner" or "Akira." And mmyeah, I can see this story now...a group of scientists, their doctor and a few other staff cut off from their fleet...landing on a planet, finding another race...who is the one who is observing the other? Who is the greater? Will they ever find home, or is it better to stay?
8bit BlackMage - Beyond the Sky TALK - Why do chemists call helium, curium, and barium 'the medical elements'? Because, if you can't 'helium' or 'curium', you... um... ._.; - {{{time}}}
That one hit 999! This is very interesting o.o I'm sad that Adam's gone as well. I actually remember saying those exact same words about him (we operate on the same wavelength, yeah, I like spectroscopy o.o). In the WoD fanfic, which miraculously wrapped up within thirteen chapters, I think our posts were the most similar. TSD started strong but ebbed out near the end, Hexed wrote short, sweet, but helpfully linking snippets, Nelo opted for the grandiose, flashy, and dramatic fight/conversation edits, and Adam and I kind of mirrored each other and followed the plot points that the other introduced, while inventing our own. Did you ever read through that fanfic? You might catch my obsessive desire to create a set of similar beings, as exemplified in the seraph quartet named after four of our dear admins :) Ugh, I admire you for going into the medicene field. What with rigorous exams, hands-on application (surgery? I'd rather stick with derivatives, not dissecting organs), and malpractice, and you have your work cut out for you. Then again, people in Australia probably aren't as lawsuit-happy as Americans. Remember, in the very unlikely event that you decide that surgery isn't for you, you still have chemistry =D Does not know what Blade Runner is... does not know what Akira is... it's a bit odd, but Final Fantasy is really my only connection to the world of Japanese art and animation. I like your story idea, though! We should start it we should start it we should start it....
Medicine's tough, but it's well worth it. It's really interesting for me, and I love helping people, so medicine is really rewarding ^_^. I only regret not being able to pursue mathematics further... That and having to write legal statements for court. The textbooks scare me though - paediatrics alone is more than 2000 pages! O.O;
Yes, let us start it! But not in the original forum - that's EoS's tomb. Kekekeke...but where and when? Do you have any ideas for characters/setting/storyline?
8bit BlackMage - Beyond the Sky TALK - Why do chemists call helium, curium, and barium 'the medical elements'? Because, if you can't 'helium' or 'curium', you... um... ._.; - {{{time}}}
Bah, I wish it wasn't 11:00 at night right now, and tomorrow I'll be gone for the majority of the day moving things. It's great we can start another story, though =D Letsee, I think it would be best to devote a userspace subpage to the story, because then intrusions could be deleted and there would be a talkpage accessible. I'll try to forumlate some ideas when I'm transferring objects into a U-Haul trailer. Until then, Goodnight!
We can probably put it here, or make a new subpage. Pity we can't make merged user subpages, but ah well (User:8bit Yuan? An 8bit Moon lute?)
Hm...what if the planet is inhabited by two sentient species? One is fairly primative, a farming society; but entirely peaceful. They live in harmony, but have little knowledge other than their mysterious beliefs. The other is an unknown, beings which are too different for humans to understand. Formidably intelligent, but when the humans observe it, it feels more like the alien is observing them...How would the three species interact? Will the humans "go native", or find their way home? I think too much... ^_^;
8bit BlackMage - Beyond the Sky TALK - Why do chemists call helium, curium, and barium 'the medical elements'? Because, if you can't 'helium' or 'curium', you... um... ._.; - {{{time}}}
I just realized that you usually log on when it's late at night here, which means it doesn't matter if I'm gone the whole day =D Lol, 8bit Moon Lute. Perhaps something like this, from the 8bit-FF? I read through your Sketchbook thingy and became distracted.... wondering what RESVRGAM means... Whatever subpage you want to use, created or waiting in the wings, I'm fine with. Hopefully, the story will go well enough that's we'll archive it, so keep that in mind. I actually was thinking about a setup today with a small but powerful race that possessed intruders, perhaps stranded humans, or it could be another, inferior race. You seem to have a plethora of thoughts already, so you should start it :)
No reason why we can't merge the ideas ;). Perhaps the "unknown" race can possess people as part of their "observations" (reminds me of Solaris). Or perhaps the "primitive" race are actually the masterminds...We won't know until we write this, no?
Resurgam is Latin for "I will rise again". By the way, are we going to open this story to other people, like the forum story? I just hope we do't have so many, otherwise it's going to be hard to plan. And wow, I think we've written 14,000 kilobytes on these two topics. Perhaps we're stealing ILHI's "wall-of-text" writing skills :P.
This is where we start talking about the story, so a section is created for convenient purposes.[]

TOPIC DIVIDER! We'll plan things as we go. Heck, in EoS, the hero changed from CoD (wutlol?!?!?) Hexed (bit the dust) to Faethin/Yuan, so I'm sure this story (will its title consist of three words, the middle being one of little significance? o.o) will end up being something we didn't plan =D Hmm. Adam's taken a leave of absence (T-T), and I'm not sure if Hexed or Nelo are active or interested in this genre enough to participate. Faethin might want to, and there's always the possibility of others signing on. Just... must have.... gud..... gramer.... plez.... lern...2....punctu8.... Anyway, since it will be under your userpage, you can always decide who and who not to allow in.
:D. We are ready to start!

It makes me sad that all that elegant EoS artwork is vegetating in your Sandbox T-T.... This is so exciting =D What makes it nice is that we're trying to create a basic plot and create a list of writers and characters before we dive into the story. As for the Sketchbook page, will it basically be like the EoS roster, where people can add info about plot elements/characters? I'll try to come up with some of my ideas in my Sandbox tomorrow before I transfer it to yours, Yuan.
Oh, ah...I'm not quite sure ^_^;. I was planning on putting the actual story there, but we do need somewhere to put the cast and plot elements. More subpages, perhaps?

I want in! I could also help with the plot I have many ideas for you to
I'll help. I won't be able to add much, but I'll do what I can. One idea I've been tossing around for while is about energy based extraterrestrials exploiting fears, guilt, sorrow, ect. to create monstrous creatures. It's not very good, but... And I have this, which is unused and alone.

OMG ITS OATH OMG ITS OATH OMG ITS OATH HIHIHHIHIHIHIHIHIHIHI!!!! Well, I'm glad we have such an interest in this :) MOAR subpages are always a good idea. :3 Um, perhaps we can put a list of potential users on the Sketchbook page and a brief explanation of the general plot? Can I edit that page?

If anyone is interested, I could do two things, but only one. 1:I could creat an IRC channel so we could all talk about this some-what in person instead of waiting for responces this way. 2:Someone tell me where this page is so I could
Edit conflict:
@Oath: Yay! I was kind of planning that for the unknown beings (read Solaris? Lighter than that, though). Glad to see you again, @8bit: Sounds good, we'll put a list there. I'm editing it right now, but you can go ahead an add stuff to it as soon as I'm finished ^_^. Perhaps we should have a gathering on the IRC?
...okay I'm interested, can I join? I promise I won't screw up...maybe
Hello, eh, may I join? This seems a somewhat interesting story and I have already started thinking about someone, if that is OK?

Yes, I've seen it, you know I'm subtitling the storylines, right? I've done Cloud's and am on to Cecil's now.
BTW, not sure, but do you read fanfiction?

Ooo, sweet, I looked on your userpage and saw the video. Can't wait to see Zidane's. Hmm... I don't think I've ever read a FF fanfic, except for a couple on this wiki that I can't remember much of. I've helped to write WoD and EoS, though. Or do you mean fantasy fanfiction in general?
I just meant in general, because I write them often. Nevermind though.
| |||
Sorry for butting in, but I got interested^^. Have you uploaded your Fanfics somewhere Drake? Because they seem interesting to me
FF.net, just search for my name. Been writing fanfics for years now, been doing FF7 fics for several months.

Name change[]
Hi, I know you're a big FF9 editor on here, so I'll ask you. Do you think we should universalise the whole Garnet-name thing? The majority of pages seem say Garnet anyway, and I personally prefer that. But it's not my call, so what do you think? Dagger or Garnet or both?
8bit BlackMage - Beyond the Sky TALK - Why do chemists call helium, curium, and barium 'the medical elements'? Because, if you can't 'helium' or 'curium', you... um... ._.; - {{{time}}}
I'm not sure where it came up, but I remember a consensus that the name "Garnet" would be used when referring to Dagger/Garnet/Sarah, except in cases where it needs to be sufficiently pointed out that her alias is Dagger/Sarah. (i.e, on the Ice Cavern page where it says that Zidane gave her the nickname "Dagger", or on the Madain Sari page that explains her real name.) I believe the reason for this is that offical FFIX wallpaper shows the character with the title "Garnet til Alexandros XVII". If you should come across an occurance where the name "Garnet" should be used, please feel free to change it; it should be universalized. Also, thank you for the "big FF9 editor" compliment. It's my favorite game :)
Wow great, glad it's been covered already! No problem, from your archive + talk bubble it shows :). And whenever I'm editing an FF9 page you're the last editor ^^. FF9 is my favourite too, easily!
8bit BlackMage - Beyond the Sky TALK - Why do chemists call helium, curium, and barium 'the medical elements'? Because, if you can't 'helium' or 'curium', you... um... ._.; - {{{time}}}
Most of it is me rewriting storylines and adding in an obscene amount of quotes ^^ I hope it gets a remake soon, Lord knows it deserves one. Zidane and Garnet are also a nice change from most other FF couples... cough. Hmm, I like your talk bubble device. Uses the same template, but with different color scheme options. I might try that...
Who doesn't love quotes ^^. I think it definitely deserves a remake, FF7 will soon have two movies, a prequal and a sequal based on it while FF9's great characters (Quina!) are forgotten... A remake would be amazing! Imagine FF12 graphics :). As for the template, credit for this idea goes here, here and credit for coding goes here :).
Uh ah; enemy pages should use "Dagger" as it is not referring to plot but the names of characters. In storyline you do/can type character's full names; but in enemy strategies, you should use "Dagger" and "Steiner", not Princess Garnet til Alexandros XVII and Adelbert Steiner. Hope that cleared things up. I'm actually making up this policy on the spot but it makes most sense. ILHI 09:24, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
That's fine by me, as long as it doesn't change in the same article (unless it's Ice Cavern etc). That really looks bad...
8bit BlackMage - Beyond the Sky TALK - Why do chemists call helium, curium, and barium 'the medical elements'? Because, if you can't 'helium' or 'curium', you... um... ._.; - {{{time}}}
Wait... we use Steiner because it is a shorter way to say "Adelbert Steiner". We don't use "Dagger" because it is not an abbreviation of Garnet. Wallpaper, game manuals, etc., call her Garnet. Not sure why this should be different for enemy pages.
Ehh: Story writing and Battle writing is different. I suppose it's clear at my wiki why this method is used.
You write the story as if it were a book, or whatever, you explain the events. Therefore all versions of the name are acceptable (although, the first use should use an extended name, at least preferred by me when I'm writing)-- On enemy and boss pages; you are not writing a story. You're giving a strategy. If you say "Summon Bahamut with Princess Garnet til Alexandros XVII" and "Use Sword Arts with Adelbert Steiner"-- well, that's nice; but they should be referred to by their default names: Dagger (at least that place onwards) and Steiner. In battles she is "Dagger" so the article must refer to her as "Dagger". Because you are giving the command to "Dagger".) ILHI 10:28, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

- No problem! For furture reference, instead of copying data from one page and pasting it onto a new one, you can click on the "Move" tab which is near the top of the article. This allows you to keep the original history of the page and rename it easily. 8bit 19:40, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

Lol! Nice how he can shove aside about 300 pounds of armor in a split second. As usual, Squall's being an arrogant jerk. Oh well. Um, is it shown what happened to Garland? That's in Zidane story, I assume.... Subtitle that next O.O
I'm subtitling Terra's next, then it is indeed Zidane's. He and Kuja have some awesome dialogue. As for Garland, he's fought as a boss in Zidane's story, and we see that same scene there from Zidane's POV.
EDIT - Oh, and as I say in the vid summary - Zidane knocks Garland down. :p

Et tu, Garland :P I think I remember you showing me a video of Terra's - it's in the Magitek facility where Kefka goes crazy and starts flying around making things explode. Or maybe that wasn't subtitled :/ Anyway, it was hilarious ^^ When this comes out in actual English, it just might be one of the best scripts ever... provided they don't let Squall and Cloud do most of the talking. I watched several more movies of Cecil's storyline, and I think the interaction bewteen him and Golbez is very nicely written. I've started this, and I thought you might like to see the Honorable Mention and #5.

I know. It's interesting how Hamill does the same oscillation and varying cackling that Shigeru Chiba does now. When I first heard it, it sounded exactly like Chiba voicing Kefka in English to me.
Oh, also 8bit, I have a vid where Squall fights Kuja in his storyline, if you wanna watch. Kuja puts up a good fight and the two share some amusing banter. Squall: What do you want?
FF6 Dissidia[]
I'm uploading Part 2 of Terra's story within the hour, if you'd like to see it and Part 1. Kefka hasn't changed much in 15 years - he feeds the heroes a combination of lies and truth, pushing the right buttons to piss them off, then loses his patience and starts blowing shit up and cackling. Fun times! Drake Clawfang 21:08, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
- Keep them coming, I want to see how the other Chaos villains react to Kefka ^^ Oh, and in response to the previous video.... I dunno, the Joker doesn't sound very.... uh "Final Fantasy"ish... I don't know how to explain it. There's not enough insane hilarity in that clip, and he sounds.. mweh, not "too old", not "too American", but not Kefka. But, I guess a single viedo is not the definite indicator of an actor's voice ability. 8bit 23:54, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
Well for more insight to Hamill's Joker voice, 8Bit, check this out. As for the Dissidia vids, here you are. Drake Clawfang 00:01, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
Loved Terra's Story Part 2! The scene with Kefka is amazing. Enemies... friends... the world... we'll destroy them all! XD That Japanese voice actor should be given a medal. 8bit 19:25, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
FF9 Ultimania[]
You should read it, very interesting stuff on FF9. That Crystal at the end of the game is more important to life than Kuja tells you. Turns out Crystals (plural) are the key to the assimilation of Gaia into Terra. Drake Clawfang 07:47, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
- Hmm, so that kind of explains why the Shimmering Island sends Zidane and co. down to Terra... That's kind of odd, though. Where is Terra's crystal? Both "spheres", per se, of Gaia and Terra should have their centers at the exact same point, and thus their crystal at the exact same point. Or was it destroyed along with the rest of Terra? Odd... This explains the two moons, though. I like the Fusion process, and the assimilation of memories that leads to life.... Thanks Drake =D 8bit 19:25, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
- I live to serve, 8bit. :p They posted a second, less-interesting article explaining the two moons and their radiance. But it does explain the Shimmering Island more - the shimmering is created by the combined radiance of Terra and Gaia's Crystals, and is the point where the two worlds joined. When the radiance is at its peak, the door to Terra opens.
- BTW, I'll be starting the Zidane storyline for Dissidia within the next couple days. I'll keep ya posted. Drake Clawfang 19:38, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
8bit BlackMage - Beyond the Sky TALK - Why do chemists call helium, curium, and barium 'the medical elements'? Because, if you can't 'helium' or 'curium', you... um... ._.; - 20:13, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
LESS INTERESTING?!?!??!?! LESS ITNERESTING!!?!?!? I LOVE ASTRONOMY! THESE ARE ECLIPSES WE'RE TALKING ABOUT!!!! WITH TWO MOONS!?!!!? AND THEIR ORBITS... THEIR MAJOR AND MINOR AXES ARE INVERTED COMPARED TO EACH OTHER!!! OPPOSING ELLIPSES!!!! THEY'RE LIKE..... DUAL LUNAR CONJUNCTION ECLIPSES!!!!!!!!!! </astronomer rant> XD XD XD XD That is so cool. You distracted me from formatting for a good half hour o.o Hmm, I'm not so sure about this "joining" thing... from the previous diagram, it appears that the worlds of Terra and Gaia are, as any planet, spherical. Then where are they "joined"? I see no secant lines that join them; Terra is wholly within Gaia. But yes, that does explain the Shimmering Island, and perhaps answers my previous question - the Shimmering Island is no more once Terra is destroyed. Because the Shimmering Island depends and the dual radiance of Terra and Gaia's Crystals, it must mean that Terra's crystal was indeed destroyed. Oh, I watched Part 3 of Terra's theme. Heart. But now Cloud's there to be all sulky. Question: Is that you playing? You have Dissidia?
I wish. No, the footage is someone else's, I'm using it with their permission. And actually, Terra and Cloud get along well - they discuss their shared apprehension about fighting and the future, etc.
| |||
I think I've let a huge monster out by setting our story in space XD. Dual moon eclipses. Schweet! I can just imagine: it will be character development and psychology on one side; while the other side has "Blah blah blah chemistry! Blah blah blah physics! Blah medicine blah blah physiology! Astronomy!" etc.
I'm on IRC now if you want to have a chat, 8bit. As is Feavyre, if you want to talk about the Chemist/Astrophysicist.
Just a quick line or two from Zidane's storyline. He hasn't changed a bit. This is right after he tackles Garland during Squall's showdown with Ultimecia:
Garland: You showed no hesitation in challenging me. You tread on dangerous ground, boy.
Zidane's Story[]

That's it? That's boring!" Er, quoting Kefka, not your movie. When you gave me the Zidane movie I assumed the Terra scripts were done, and so they were. So I watched them. 8D 8D 8D 8D 8D 8D 8D 8D 8D 8D 8D 8D 8D 8D 8D Kefka gained +100000 awesome points in that final battle. The hilarious cackling!!! Let's start this mad party! If Zidane's storyline is half as good as Terra's, it will be well worth the wait. Keep it up XD
I know, Kefka's a riot ain't he? Reminds me why he's so awesome a villain. And actually, that quote is apt. I got Part 2 for Zidane done, and I'm doing part 3. He has two boss fights, but the problem is the guy playing, steparu, is too good - neither of Zidane's two bosses pose any sort of threat and he wipes the floor with them. Here, Zidane's story is done. this is very cool - timeline of the FF9 world.

I was just going to ask you a question about FFTA, but since I see now that you are a FFIX fan as well, I was hoping you can clear something else up for me as well. As you can see, I am a fan of ninja, but another user reacted to my DNC suggestion of Shadow vs Amarant by saying that Amarant is not a ninja. I know that there are no specific lables of job classes in the later games, but can you give me your oppinion of Amarant's job?
8bit BlackMage - Beyond the Sky TALK - Why do chemists call helium, curium, and barium 'the medical elements'? Because, if you can't 'helium' or 'curium', you... um... ._.; - 22:30, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
Hmm. Amarant's page says he seems to be a combination of monk and ninja. I would say that Amarant is more of a Monk than a Ninja, though, but to say he's not a Ninja at all is misleading ^^ He does throw things, he's quite agile, and he has a ninja-like personality. I think Shadow vs. Amarant is a pretty good matchup. Another person who likes FFTA and FFIX! XD
Ninja of Wind - Just as the hero appears at the last second to save the day, the ninja quietly vanishes when the job is done. TALK - All the time ; P
Actually, just FFTA. I have yet to play (or even get a copy of) FFIX. I just thought a Shadow vs Amarant fight was needed in the DNC. Anyway, I wanted your opinion on some job machups for FFTA that I came up with. Do you think you can spare a little time?
Sure, fire away. Mind using just regular postings and signatures? Oh, you and should get IX. Soon. ^^ 8bit 22:42, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
- OK, but I like my talkbubble better. I have an idea for a party that covers all of the good jobs and uses the best combinations that I could think of. Hold on, dinner time. BRB Ninja of Wind
- I'm back. I'd like to thank the Irish for St. Patty's day and an awesome meal of corned beef, cabbage, and potatoes. So the first job machup I think should belong on Marche. It's not the most original, I just like the idea of a fighter with a ninja's stauts inducing abilities, double sword, and the fighter's overpowered counter ability. Its better on Marche because he is usually the highest level of the group and has the most AP because he's been in the party the longest. Ninja of Wind
No corned beef for me, I'm opting for spaghetti. And garlic bread.
Of course, Dual-wield on Marche. I use knightswords with the Paladin job, but Fighters have their advantages too, i.e their move range and unique abilities. I like the Nagrarok and Exalibur II, but Ebon Blade and Adamant Blade works just as well. I also abuse Ninja Tabi so my normally inhibited Paladin Marche has a Move of 5. Wondering if you've seen this section of my walkthrough? Also, do you have Tactics A2? 8bit 23:31, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
- No, I don't have A2 yet, but I have been meening to get it for a while. Also its funny you should mention paladins, because my second idea was to have a human quickly learn two archer abilities and then capture (just so I can have a hunter ready before goblins and dragons go "extinct") but then to move on to learning paladin abilities, learning the rest of the archer abilities and staying at that job (or hunter, I can't decide), and to top it all off, equiping those farrie shoes that let you teleport across the field. So this job would be geared toward powerful ranged attacks and switching to defence at a moment's notice and can cover the entire field. Ninja of Wind
- I'm not a big fan of the bow users, but I do have a Hunter in one save file, with the secondary job of an Archer. I'm not sure that Hunters need defense, seeing as how they stick to the back lines. Perhaps a Mage subjob to increase magic defense, since spells are more likely to hit a Ranger? Wait, there's only BM, WM, and Illusionist. T-T Perhaps you have a point with the Paladin... hmm, I think Fighter would be better, though. I like higher Attack ^^ The Faerie Shoes idea is also excellent. 8bit 00:01, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
- I understand that hunters don't usually need defence because of their range, but I was thinking about the paladin's cover ability, because even though his job will be hunter, he still has a paladin's responsibility in the party to protect the other characters, and after covering, he can just move back with the farrie shoes. But my next character is just your standard mage combo. Blue mage + black mage, but I don't see the point of keeping him on blue mage still after learning the learning ability, so I usually just switch him back immediatly. And I don't know how well I made this clear before, this party isn't just the six people that you can put into battle, I am thinking of all of the characters that you can interchange depending on the laws and opponents in battle. I will explain more on my next character(and I think that I have found a good use for Montblank after all). Ninja of Wind
- To save time in this halting conversation, I think that I am just going to list out the rest of the jobs. Can you answer me on my talk page? I don't want to take up too much space on yours. The next matchup would be based off of a cheat I found on most of the gaming cheat websites(IGN, Gamefacs, you name it). I would have two moogles, one of them Montblank, go through two abilities for thief (not including counter) and one ability for animist, which the best one in my oppinion is sheep count. Next I would have them Learn some basic juggler abilities, then switch them both to mog knight and level up as much as possible. When you have the weapon that teaches the Smile ability, have each of them equip it and master the ability. Then have them switch back to mog knight so they can use smile on each other and over again and gain the HP and defence from the job. When both of them are at level 50, switch the moogle that is not Montblank to gunner and have all of your characters beat up on the moogles to gain exp. The gunner should learn concentrate to make the Mog Rush ability easy to use and should also gaurd to make sure enemies don't attack the lv. 50 moogles and gain levels themselves. Ninja of Wind
- My next three matchups are simmple Nu Mou matchups and without creativity. The first is white mage + illusionist, which is just a back row magical attacker and healer. The next is sage + alchemist, the strongest magic users in the game with reflex and Magic Pow+ equiped. The last is a beastmaster and morpher combo to help the blue/black mage get blue magic and use the souls captured by the hunter/paladin. Ninja of Wind
- My next on is similar to one that you have. I would have a gladiator learn all of his abilities and strikeback, then have him change to a dragoon to learn everything but the wurm abilities, which are useless. I would swich off between strikeback when fighting monsters, and dragonheart when facing regular characters. Useing Galmia Shoes wouldn't hurt either to move up a steep area and rain down a jump attack from where I can't be hit back. Ninja of Wind
- Another matchup would be the white monk for speed, attack, and for good ranged abilities and healing abilities. Then change to a defender. Useful ability conbos would be Aura with Meltdown and Counter with Expert Gaurd. Ninja of Wind
- My last two are Viera. One of them is on matchup that you suggested, but I didn't know until now. The red mage and summoner with Half MP, Doublecast, and Reflex. My second one is similar to another one of yours. It is a sniper with an assasin's abilities. I like the idea of conceal and corner working together. And if I had another pair of Fairy Shoes while concealed, I would barely need any other party members. Well those are all twelve of my ideas. I'd like to discuss more on my talk page (if your up for it after reading all of that). You said earlier that I should get FFIX soon, but first, I have to finnish FFV, FFVI, get FFVII, then I will get FFIX. Ninja of Wind 02:10, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
Sorry for such a long bout of silence[]
I must apologize for suddenly dropping off the world. My site has become extremely popular over the last few months, and I have been doing my best to keep up with the demand. I am going to place IV DS as well as I PSP in my site within the next six months or so. I would like to extend the opportunity for FF Wiki to feel free to come and load the images that are missing. I do not really remember how to do it myself, and I really want to keep going with my own site as well. Also, how do I go about asking for affiliation? I figured it would be nice to have FFWiki as an affiliate. It is after all one of the best there is out there.
You can ask one of the bureaucrats to become an affiliate. Diablocon is probably the best person to go to, as he is the most active of the two.
Hope to see you upload more images. We really appreciate those. ^_^

Yay! More images! I'm glad that you've expanded your site in the time away from this one. I would be happy to upload images from your site to the wiki, but I looked around and I can't find any links to IV DS or I and II 20th anniversary enemy images. I'll try to keep an eye on updates to your site as you increase your scope.Also, I'm sure Diablo would be willing to listen if you ask him for affiliation. Good luck!
I am sorry, I have not done them yet. There is still getting the images out of the backgrounds, coloring them for the site, and other things. Right now my largest focus is finishing Crisis Core, X, X-2, and XII. I have to hault most loading, since the ftp transferring this month of the new site look, images, and other things has sent my bandwidth skyrocketing. I am sorry I made it seem like they were there already. I will keep an eye on what you have, and try to get in some that are not there.

I notice your talk template says in the "name" field "8bit BlackMage|8Bit_Blackmage". I assume this doesn't work, (if it does than it doesn't work for me) and I assume you're trying to do this: 8Bit_Blackmage. If you want to do this add "nick =8Bit_Blackmage".

Hey, I'm the guy that was doing all the funky editing in that category. Anyway, I thought I'd apologize for getting a little carried away. I'd just thought I'd let you know it wasn't out of any malice or anything. Just me screwing around. I'll knock it off though. My apologies.
Hey, no problem. It's kind of vague as to whether anyone can edit how they please on that page, anyway, and I guess the unsung rule is "don't delete anythign and let anyone insert whatever they want". I'd rather it be moved to userspace... 8bit 14:43, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

- That would probably be best, for Template Talk:VFD to be added to Template Talk:Delete. That means we would need to paste the history of the former onto the latter, but it should be okay; I'll do that.
- Also, do we want to leave Template:VFD as a redirect to Template:Delete? I was going to fix the links and then delete VFD, but then I saw that a lot of User talk pages link to VFD, and that if that's deleted right away some people might not notice the change :/ 8bit 02:54, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
- How can it be that user talk pages link to such a template? We must remedy that >;3 AJDurai 02:57, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
- Why is it so weird? Also do not bother changing the links. I do not wish to stop using Template:VFD for it will still function the exact same way. Just Template:Delete is uniform and therefore best for the wiki. Redirect should stay forever. ILHI 11:49, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Tactics Enemy Abilities[]
I am making a Tactics enemy abilities because it's already in a table format and will be easy to convert. However, there are the abilities where the enemies that use "No*". I understand what this means but should I include them? If I do I'll just put them italics and type a note at the top. ILHI 12:38, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
