Gilgamesh: Enough expository banter!
This talk page is used for discussing improvements to the page "Save point". It is not the place for general discussion or sharing stories about the topic of this article.

Can I ask that this be merged with Save points? I apologise but i did not realise that a like-article existed when i made this one.--Goldberry2000 23:07, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. The merged article looks so much better. --Goldberry2000 23:39, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

Final Fantasy III[]

Final Fantasy III was supposed to have a save point in the final dungeon but it was cut for fear of making the game too easy. Should that be mentioned in this article? I can try to dig up the interview that mentioned it, it came out around the time of the NDS release but was referring to the original Famicom release of the game. Dragonsbrethren

Is there a source? I'm not saying I don't believe you, but you know, just to make sure. :P —BfD (talk·contribs) Confirm deletion|03:53, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
I read this too once on those interviews. - Henryacores^ 04:09, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

Save icons[]

You know what would be great, mentioning the save icons that appear and for which save data. In VII, VIII, and IX at least, and probably the rest of the games on the PS1, when you save your data on Slot 01, the icon is the main character of the game. And then the next 11 (?) slots will all have different characters. I'm not sure if this also happens on the PS2, PS2, or any other consoles. They don't work in the same way as the PS1, where each save file has an exact kb usage.

It wouldn't have to go on this page, this is just the most relevant article, and I prefer not to make forums for things that aren't a massive project. 88.109.167.144 15:57, April 3, 2010 (UTC)

Those are just the main characters of the game, and those are displayed in all the games, if that's what you're asking. Your post is a little unclear... Uppfinnarn 16:12, April 3, 2010 (UTC)

I'm saying they should be presented somewhere. Saying which slot gives which character image. Maybe I'm just entertained by such minor things, but when I was 5, different images for a different slot fascinated me. 88.109.167.144 16:24, April 3, 2010 (UTC)

It just shows which characters are in the active party in the slot, it doesn't show different pics depending on the slot Uppfinnarn 16:51, April 3, 2010 (UTC)

Oh, sorry, there was a misunderstanding here. On the PS1, if you save your game, go onto the memory card, and there is an icon for it (like there is for all games). Depending on which slot you saved your game onto, the save icon will be different. To give you an idea of what I'm talking about, [1] -- The icons for VII/VIII/IX will be different depending on which Slot you saved to. 88.109.167.144 16:55, April 3, 2010 (UTC)

You mean in the System Browser? Uppfinnarn 16:58, April 3, 2010 (UTC)

...Yes. 88.109.167.144 16:59, April 3, 2010 (UTC)

Ah, that explains it... Sorry. I thought you meant in the Save Menu Uppfinnarn 17:02, April 3, 2010 (UTC)

This isn't a bad idea. FFX and XII both use the same logo always (the logo), but FFX-2 will have a PuPu (for a normal playthrough) or a Moogle (for a New Game+ game). XIII varies based on where you are, and who the party leader is. There are the PS1 ports of the S/NES era games as well, I only have FFIV, and can't remember if it changes right now. --Gamer2127 20:05, April 3, 2010 (UTC)
I know FFI changes by party leader and I don't know a lot about FFII (slot one is Firion, but I don't know about the others; since the party is stagnant it might be something different). FFV changes depending on the party leader and their job (now that's a wonderful amount of save icons we have to upload) and FFVI is party leader as well, I think (I can't remember this one as well). ScatheMote 13:44, April 4, 2010 (UTC)

If you have a PSX game, please add those images! Great idea! I only have FFVII, but I can add the pics for that game later(as soon as my brother stops playing) Uppfinnarn 12:30, April 4, 2010 (UTC)

Should FF1-3 be added?[]

The "Tactics" series entries in this article don't talk about "physical" save points but points where you can save the game. The same could be done for FF1-3? Or remove the Tactics parts because they're not really talking about save points (as those games don't have any)? Right now it looks a bit odd Tactics is mentioned by FF1-3 aren't.Keltainentoukokuu 21:20, July 20, 2010 (UTC)Keltainentoukokuu

Well, since "on the World Map" and "after resting at the Inn" or "resting in a tent" is still a certain point, even if it isn't a visible thing... I believe they should be on the page. 88.108.90.162 21:30, July 20, 2010 (UTC)

Capitalisation[]

In hindsight, "Save Point" might have actually been the correct capitalisation. Maybe getting the bot to capitalise it back to that wouldn't be a horrible idea.--Magicite-ffvi-ios Technobliterator TC 02:37, November 28, 2015 (UTC)
