Maria? Any relation to the Opera chick?

I am actually more inclined to think that this is religious. Lady, (or Maria, going by her romaji) I believe, is supposed to be a reference to the Virgin Mary, Jesus' mother, and Rest is supposed to be Jesus Christ. Also, by how they are positioned, I am inclined to believe that Lady and Rest are depicting a scene in the Bible, more specifically, Mary greiving over Jesus' body after he has been crucified. Hence the name "Rest", referring to Jesus' death.
Sorry, let me clarify. That much is obvious--the whole battle is full of religious imagery. But it seems odd to have two Marias in the game. I.e., was Maria named something else in the Japanese one, or was there any link between the character and the symbolic "character" that was left unstated in the US releases?

There are not two Marias in the game, they are different on which version you play. In the US version Maria is the opera diva, and in the Japanese version, Maria is Lady. There is no missing character. The opera diva must have gotten a different name in the Japanese version.
Man, I have got to work on clarity. That's what I meant--was the opera singer named something else. Which you answered, but not as though that was the principal question. Sorry for the confusion. XD

I finally think I know what you are trying to say. To answer your question, no, I do not think Lady has any connection with the opera singer.
Hmmm...are we certain that Lady double absorbs elemental damage? I always see her heal by the same amount that Rest damages himself when he used Meltdown.IronGasoline (talk) 11:19, June 4, 2017 (UTC)
