Rosen

Rosen is a character in Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis. He is a Rhadoran boy sent to the remote island of Sijad to act as the Eye of Rhadore and notify the main island of imminent danger.

History[]

In [ μ ] – εγλ 1991, Rosen, with his dog Refu embarked from the main island on the Rhadore Archipelago to the island of Sijad. He left behind no family to speak of; he had no siblings, and his parents both perished in an accident at sea.

In [ μ ] – εγλ 1992, on the La'paina coast, Rosen helped Matt Winsord, Lucia Lin, and Glenn Lodbrok escape a horde of Baloir and lead them to safety. Fully aware that Shinra's plan to build a mako reactor would disrupt the flow of the spiritual energy the Rhadore call "mana", Rosen still helped Team Glenn leave Sijad and make their way to the main island.

While Glenn, Matt, and Lucia were exploring the main island, Rosen dutifully kept white smoke billowing from the chimney on the shore, indicating that he was alive and he was unaware of any danger. However, after Shinra began an exploratory dig, the disruption created a mana torrent that threatened the entire island. Rosen, while under attack from angry Baloir, signaled to the main island with red smoke.

Glenn and team arrived on the island, intending to rescue Rosen from the torrent. He insisted he stay on the island to warn the others, to which Glenn admitted there were no others to warn anymore. They had killed everyone. Upset and in disbelief, Rosen returned to the chimney.

There, he was rescued from a horde of Baloir by Sephiroth, who reminded Rosen that there was no point signaling if there was no one left alive to see it. When Sephiroth asked Rosen what he wanted, Rosen told Sephiroth he wanted Sephiroth to kill him so he could reunite with his people. Sephiroth tried to convince Rosen to come to safety with him, but Rosen told Sephiroth that he had to make a choice as to whose lives were important to him.

Sephiroth reluctantly struck down Rosen with his blade, killing the last of the Rhadore.

Appearance[]

Rosen is a young boy with brown hair and brown eyes. He dresses in earthen tones, with a green shirt with beige and white straps, burgundy pants, and dark boots and gloves. He keeps his hair in a ponytail and wears a multicolored bandana.

Personality[]

Rosen is calm and dutiful, quietly observing the environment around him. He is fiercely loyal to his people and will do whatever it takes to fulfill his duty as the Eye of Rhadore. As the Eye, his role is to assess the flow of mana around the islands and alert the Rhadorans on the main island of danger using a tall chimney. He is sworn to perform this duty until death, his only companion his dog Refu.
