Use[]

Poisona costs only 3 MP to cast, and can be used with the cleansing materia. Removing poison is important, as the debuff can deal significant damage over time if not dealt with early. Its low MP cost means it is a viable alternative to Antidote. Although cleansing materia also provides Esuna Esuna, if the only debuff one wants to remove is Poison, using Poisona saves MP.

Aside from Antidote, a few alternatives exist to Poisona. Star Pendant grants immunity to the debuff. Similarly, the Resist Resist spell also granted by the cleansing materia can grant immunity. As another alternative, one can also cast Regen Regen to both provide a 10% HP heal, as well as remove the debuff. Casting Regen costs much more MP, and does not replace Poison with the Regen Regen buff on the first cast, but this can be more useful as characters are more likely to have Healing Materia Healing Materia equipped than they are to have cleansing materia. Poison can also be removed with Chakra.

Cleansing materia can be paired with Magnify Materia Magnify Materia to cure Poison on all characters at once. However, as only one magnify materia exists, this is an inefficient use of it. If one wants to cure all characters of Poison at once, they are better off pairing magnify with healing materia and using Regen, although it is normally better to simply grant immunity to Poison rather than rely on this.

Etymology[]

The suffix -na is derived from Japanese Naoshi ((ナオ)()?) meaning "cure".
