Lilisa Meg is a character in Final Fantasy VII Remake: Picturing the Past. She is a former member of the Shinra Electric Power Company military, who was friends with Joann Liu, Glen Reiner, and Geddie Bach, who suffered from a severe case of mako poisoning.

History[]

Lilisa Meg grew up in the slums of Midgar, growing up particularly poor even among the slums.[1] She was a shy woman who enlisted in the Shinra military at the age of 19, where she met Joann Liu.[2] Meg also befriended Glen Reiner, another military recruit, and his friend, Geddie Bach, who Reiner invited along with them making Bach a regular fourth in their trio despite not being in the military. The group would spend nights and weekends together, cooking meals, drinking, and talking about their ambitions. Relative to the others, Meg was less ambitious, happy enough to be in uniform due to her history.[1]

When Liu and Reiner joined Shinra's Special Geological Survey Initiative, before departing for their first survey mission, Meg threw them a party, cooking for them in her day off. During the party, Meg begged Reiner not to go, confessing romantic feelings for him. The confession stunned both Reiner and Liu, causing Liu to leave out thinking Meg had crossed the line. Shortly after Liu left, Meg, Reiner, and Bach came down with sudden mako poisoning from Meg's casserole.[3] Although Liu believed Meg's apparent love for Reiner made Meg the likely culprit for the poisoning, in truth Bach had poisoned them, hoping to take Reiner's place in the initiative and take the glory for it.[4]

Meg was held in the Shinra Building due to her mako poisoning. She was tattooed with the number 24 and wore black robes thereafter. At some point, when Lonny and Marielle were in Aerith Gainsborough's room, Meg came in screeching at Aerith, blaming Aerith for the deaths caused by the Special Geological Survey Initiative, and strangled her until a lab assistant jabbed a syringe into Meg's neck, sedating her.[2]

Much later, Liu became Meg's bodyguard after Meg was discharged. Shinra claimed that combatants discharged had been wrongly reported KIA due to errors in reporting during the chaos of the war, presumably the excuse provided for Meg's release. Meg was looked after by Liu, and sometimes, Liu would gather in groups of other mako poisoned victims, including Bach and Reiner, at the train graveyard. When dealing with his guilt from his past, at one point, Lonny accompanied Liu and Meg on this trip.[5]
