Its Sour Mouth can cause Imp, Dar, and Poison status in a victim. Avoid elemental attacks against this well-defended enemy.
Final Fantasy VI PlayStation Bestiary entry
The Great Malboro , also known as the Evil Oscar and EvilOscar, is an enemy in Final Fantasy VI fought in the exterior zones of Kefka's Tower, and the Dragons' Den bonus dungeon only available in certain versions.
Stats[]
Battle[]
Great Malboro often attack in groups with other enemies; they cast Bad Breath when left alone, so it is recommended to take them out first, unless they are accompanied by a Great Behemoth. They absorb all elements except Fire, which they are weak against, so Firaga is good against them. Alternatively, the player can control them and use their own Snort attack to eject the Great Malboro or its allies out of the battle. They are also not immune to any statuses aside from Darkness and silence, so using Confusion may cause it to eject itself or its allies out of the battle.
Coliseum setup[]
Gogo is the best character to use in this fight, since every other character, except Umaro, has a Magic command, which the player will want to avoid using; Great Malboro will counter with its death-inflicting special attack if hit by magic.
Great Malboro can use Snort, so the player will want to end the fight quickly before it is used, or rely on Kagenui to cast Stop and prevent the attack. Great Malboro is vulnerable to death attacks from Ichigeki and Wing Edge; equipping them via the Merit Award grants a good chance for a quick kill, given Wing Edge's speed boost and the death effect. Equipping speed-boosting equipment and the Ribbon will prevent the status ailments from Bad Breath.
