Gate Seals are key items in Final Fantasy XIII-2 used to revisit past events by rewinding Time Gates in the Historia Crux. Doing so seals off all connecting pathways from the gate and any storyline artefacts from after the period are temporarily removed from the inventory and irrelevant fragments in the Fragments menu are grayed out. Re-opening a gate will restore the Historia Crux and the player's progress in each area. Replaying through an area with the Paradox Scope active can trigger paradox endings.
