The Legend of Zelda: Ghost Tracker | ||||||||||||||||||||
|
The Legend of Zelda: Ghost Tracker is an upcoming action-adventure role-playing video game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo DSGo on November 20th, 2023 in Japan, November 27th in America, and December 4th in Australia and Europe. Ghost Tracker is a direct sequel to Wind Waker, featuring the same cell-shaded graphics and combat, although the game is not seperated into islands in the same way. The game features many new items and gameplay features unseen in previous titles, and a new mysterious storyline.
It features the sea-faring Link from Wind Waker, who has washed up on a mysterious archipelago haunted by roaming ghosts. He is tasked with finding and capturing all of the ghosts, while discovering the mystery of the isles. The namesake of the game is the Ghost Tracker, a compass-like device that Link utilizes in order to find ghosts, phantoms, Poes, and the Ghost Ship, all of which must be found in order to complete his quest. Despite early rumors created before the full announcement of the game, it features no interconnectivity between the Wind Waker remake. Brock Productions has also confirmed that the game will feature DLC.
Story[]
Long ago, the land of Hyrule was flooded to keep evil at bay. Other lands, too, felt the force of these waves and were filled with water. People flocked to the highest point in their lands to survive the harsh waves. One of many lands founded this way was Terranox. A new royalty is established to preside over the land, ruled by a great king. This king leads the country to prosperity and it becomes a thriving young land of opportunity and happiness.
However, not all goes well. The king is faced with a terrible event that brings him to eternal sorrow, and unable to bottle his emotions, he cries for days and days. His weeping spawns horrible spirits of pain that begin to haunt the land, and the king is turned to stone as his agony reaches its maximum points. The land is now overrun by the spirits and in disarray, they move the king to the top of a large spire on the Spirit Cathedral, or so it is called. Unable to fully stop the spirits, they call out for a hero to come save them.
Link and his pirate crew arrive on the island. The locales inform Link of their issue and say that he should go to the Spirit Cathedral to find a way to solve their problems. He does so and goes through a dungeon underneath the cathedral. At the end, he defeats a boss and is consulted by the voice of the King, who asks him to go next to the Palace of Ice in the north. Link does so and finds a magical compass there called the Ghost Tracker, which he uses to capture many spirits and find the four "Suit Cards" spread through the islands.
As ordered by the king, Link uses the Suits to unlock the upper levels of the Cathedral, eventually finding himself at the resting palace of the King's stone corpse. He destroys the corpse with the Ball and Chain, hoping to end the thread, but finds that he was tricked by the Spirit General, who had been masquerading as the King's voice the entire time. The General and his spirits are all released from the corpse, creating a swirling vortex of ghouls that will most certainly bring the entire world into ruin.
Link goes to battle with the General, and, with the combined power of Link and his crew, manages to knock him to the ground. Using all of his power, Link seals the General underneath the ground and locks the seal with magical tracks. Peace once again falls over the land as the spirits vanish. Link and Tetra become the new monarchs, and their story is passed down through the generations, albeit with a few changes.

Items[]
Sword[]
The Sword is one of the most crucial items link encounters on his adventure. He can utilize it to attack enemies, usually with it being adequate enough to defeat them with enough slashes, activate switches, cut grass and pots, and perform other actions. The following techniques can be performed by the sword:
- Horizontal Slash: Simply attacking while not targeting an enemy.
- Vertical Slash: Simply attacking while targeting something.
- Jab: Moving forward while targeting something and attacking.
- Jump Slash: Jumping forward while targeting with the sword unshiethed.
- Spin Attack: By holding down B and charging, Link can unleash a mighty attack all around him.
- Parry: Pressing A when the enemy attacks to counter them and do major damage.
Link finds his first sword at X soon after he awakens on the shore of the island. After collecting atleast 20 Spirit's Souls, he will recieve a special sword called the Sword of Spirits. This sword can be further augmented by Y for 200 Rupees and 10 Dodongo Scales.
Shield[]
The Shield is Link's primary defensive item, and proves quite useful in avoiding enemy attacks. By holding R while the Sword is unsheathed, Link will hold up his shield. This can be used to block all damage from enemy attacks and block projectiles.
- Wooden Shield: Found near the Sword at the beginning of the game, can be bought in stores in case of loss.
- Steel Shield: Bought from Goron Vender in X.
- Gel Shield: Created by Y for 200 rupees and 30 green Chu-Chu Jellies.
The basic shield, the Wooden Shield, is vulnerable to damage; too much will cause it to break, especially fire-related injuries. The Steel Shield is resistant to damage and fire, and cannot be destroyed. The Gel Shield, however, has some special qualities while also being invulnerable to these things. Whereas projectiles and enemies are normally simply blocked by the other shields, the Gel Shield will cause the projectiles to bounce back, doing considerable damage to their original senders.
Bow[]
The Bow is Link's primary way of ranged attack. Using Arrows as ammunition, Link fires off shots that can hurt enemies, trigger switches, and break objects. Pressing the button once takes out the Bow, holding it puts Link into first-person mode for aiming, and releasing will fire the arrow. The bow can also be fired without aiming if the button is released while L-Targeting.
- Bow: Beneath the Spirit Cathedral
- Fire Arrows: ???
- Ice Arrows: ???
- Bow of Spirits: Spirit Cathedral after collecting 30 Spirit's Souls.
- Bigger Quiver:
- Biggest Quiver:
Pressing ZR while holding down the equip button will change the arrow type from standard to fire to ice. Fire Arrows do more damage, especially to easily flamable enemies, and can melt ice; ice arrows can create icey platforms and freeze enemies. Both cost a small amount of magic to use in addition to the arrow used by shooting the bow. The Bow of Spirits decreases the magic cost for the additional bow types and increases the damage dealt.
Bombs[]
Bombs are an important part of Link's arsenal and some of the most powerful weapons he can get his hands on. While holding down the equip button, Link holds up the bomb and can switch the type with ZR. Upon release, Link will trigger the bomb, and can throw it with A or set it down with B. Using a bomb requires ammunition, which can be collected in grass, and Link can upgrade his maximum amount of bombs with Bomb Bag upgrades.
*Regular Bombs:
- Remote Bombs:
- Bomb-Chus:
- Bigger Bomb Bag:
- Biggest Bomb Bag:
Remote Bombs do not have a trigger, lasting until Link presses the equip button again after setting one down. Bomb-Chus scuttles forward after being set down and explode when they hit something or run out of fuse. Both items use the standard Bomb ammunition and do not require magic to use, unlike the special varieties of arrows. In addition to the equipable Bombs, Bomb Flowers can also be found in the environment that can be picked up and thrown an infinite amount of times, regrowing whenever used up.
Boomerang[]
The Boomerang is a common Zelda item that once again returns. Link can throw it to stun enemies, grab items, and activate certain switches. The Boomerang can also instantly kill a few weak enemies, such as Keese. Also, unlike the previous game, it can now stun Bubbles. It is found at the X and cannot be upgraded.
Hookshot[]
The Hookshot is used most commonly to grapple onto far away objects so that Link can reach previously inaccessible areas. In addition, the Hookshot can also be used as a replacement for the Boomerang by allowing Link to grab far away objects (like hard to reach Rupees or out of reach switches) and attack enemies. In most cases, attacking an enemy with the Hookshot will only stun them, but some weaker enemies such as Keese will be defeated when hit with the Hookshot. With other enemies, Link will instead steal an item from the enemy.
Sand Staff[]
T
he Sand Staff can be used by Link for various purposes, most relating to sand. He can use it to raise sand, allowing him to walk on it to higher parts and unearth items undernearth the sand. He can also harden sand and move boulders or blocks over the sand. All of these are performed by using the item in first person and aiming at the sand that should be affected.

Name | Battle Strategy | Treasure | Item's required | Location |
---|---|---|---|---|
Spirit Hulk | The battle is relatively simple; the Spirit Hulk will attempt to slash Link with his large sword and Link must dodge or jump over him so the enemy will get their sword stuck in the ground/wall. Link must then start to slash his exposed back before he unsticks his sword. As he gains more hits he will start to move faster. |

Sword | Spirit Beacon |
Moltrata | At first he is found burrowing through an organ in the Ventrata. When Link enters, the door is sealed and he starts the fight. Moltrata will borrow through one side and fly across to enter the adjacent side. Link must lock onto his tail and throw the Grappling Hook at it, allowing Link to pull it closer and attack the tail. After enough hits it molts it's skin, which turns into a spider-like being which Moltrata wraps around. Link must now chase it, and shoot an arrow at it's eye (located in it's mouth) when it attempts to bite Link. |

Hookshot | Ventrata |
Chu Collosus | Link must shoot the boss with Ice Arrows to freeze its gel body and then use the ball and chain to destroy that section. The boss throws sticky goo at Link and calls Chu-Chu's to rise from the ground and attack Link. After taking damage, the boss starts to change form; it has a yellow form that sparkles with electricity, causing damage if Link touches him, and a purple form that can lull Link to sleep. |
