Settings are available from the left drawer of the UI. These are able to customise everything from fluids to clear conditions to whether Mario can break blocks in Small phase.
Fluids[]
Here, it is possible to customise the type and level of fluids. There are 5 types of fluid available.
Water | A fluid that can be swam in. |
Lava | A fluid that incinerates almost all enemies that try to swim in it. Can be safely crossed by means of a Dry Bones Shell. |
Poison | Similar to water, but kills you if you try to swim. Can be safely crossed by means of a Dry Bones Shell. |
Quicksand | Similar to water, but you sink faster and move slower. |
Acid | A fluid that mercilessly destroys everything that it touches. Can't be crossed safely by means of a Dry Bones Shell. |

An alternate exit for the level. | |
Message Block All |
Pauses the timer and displays up to 120 characters of text when hit. | |

Pipe All |
Can be used to warp to sub areas. They can also spawn items and enemies out of them. | |

Warp Door All |
Transports players to a different location in the same area. They appear in pairs when first placed on the level. | |

An alternate form of the Warp Door. These require a key to unlock, after which it becomes accessible anytime. | |
P-Warp Door All |

Warp Box All |

Code[]
Code is a new feature in Super Mario Maker 3. It is activated by means of a Trigger, which can be attached to entities or air.
Types of Trigger[]
- Pass Through: Activates when Mario passes through the air attached to the trigger.
- Enemy Pass Through: Activates when an enemy passes through the air attached to the trigger.
- Block Activated: Activates when a block (such as a Brick Block, ? Block, Note Block, or On/Off Switch) is hit.
- Block Destroyed: Activates when a block is destroyed.
- Enemy Killed: Activates when an enemy is killed.
- Enemy Hit: Activates whenever an enemy is hit, even if they are not killed.
