Settings[]

Settings are available from the left drawer of the UI. These are able to customise everything from fluids to clear conditions to whether Mario can break blocks in Small phase.

Fluids[]

Here, it is possible to customise the type and level of fluids. There are 5 types of fluid available.

Water A fluid that can be swam in.
Lava A fluid that incinerates almost all enemies that try to swim in it. Can be safely crossed by means of a Dry Bones Shell.
Poison Similar to water, but kills you if you try to swim. Can be safely crossed by means of a Dry Bones Shell.
Quicksand Similar to water, but you sink faster and move slower.
Acid A fluid that mercilessly destroys everything that it touches. Can't be crossed safely by means of a Dry Bones Shell.

Environment[]

  • Wind: Off/Intermittent/Always On; Left/Right/Both; Slow/Fast
  • Gravity: Off/Lightest/Light/Normal/Heavy/Heaviest; Up/Down
  • Camera: Off/Slowest/Slow/Medium/Fast/Fastest

Clear Condition[]

Multiple clear conditions can be stacked.

Special Settings[]

  • Night Sky - Makes the sky dark, akin to Night Mode in SMM2 without the additional effects. Default off.
  • Super Mushroom Mercy: If Mario takes damage whilst in Super form, Mario will revert to Small form. Default on.
  • Secondary Powerup Mercy: If Mario takes damage whilst in a secondary powered form (such as Fire or Cape), Mario will revert to Super form. If turned off, Mario will revert to Small form if Primary Powerup Mercy is on, or lose a life if off. Default on.
  • Small Secondary Powerups: If Mario collects a secondary powerup (such as a Fire Flower or Cape Feather) whilst in small form, Mario will not gain the Super Mushroom's effects and will remain 1 block tall. Mario can enter normal secondary powered forms from this form by collecting a Super Mushroom. Whilst in such a form, if Mario takes damage, Mario will revert to Small form if Secondary Powerup Mercy is on, or lose a life if off.
  • Two Powerup Slots: If Mario collects a powerup whilst in an already powered form, the powerup Mario already has is placed in a slot visible onscreen (unless Mario is in a secondary powered form and a Super Mushroom is collected, in which the existing powerup is kept and the Super Mushroom is transferred to the slot). If there is already a powerup in the slot and a secondary powerup is to be transferred to the slot, it overwrites the slot's existing contents. If Mario takes damage, Mario will lose the existing powerup and the powerup in the slot will be taken out and applied to Mario.
  • Synthetic Fire Flower: If Mario collects a Super Mushroom whilst in Super form, Mario will become Fire Mario.
  • Small Block Breaker: Mario can break blocks whilst in Small form.
  • 3D-Style Lava: If Mario enters lava while powered up, Mario jumps out and takes damage.
  • Finite Air: Mario can only swim underwater for a finite amount of time, after which Mario will lose a life.
  • Lava Swim: Mario can swim in lava just like in water without taking damage.
  • Pit Rescue: If Mario falls into a pit while powered up, Mario jumps out (as high as necessary to reach a solid platform) and takes damage.
  • Invincibility: Mario cannot take damage. Mario can still be killed by falling into a pit, drowning (if Finite Air is on) falling in lava, poison or acid, getting crushed by moving blocks, or having the timer run out.
  • Erratic Powerups - Powerups move in erratic ways, like in Night Mode in the Ground theme in SMM2.
  • Groud Pound Hidden Blocks - Ground-pounding briefly reveals all hidden blocks near Mario.
  • Show Hidden Blocks - Show all hidden blocks if Mario is close enough.

Code is a new feature in Super Mario Maker 3. It is activated by means of a Trigger, which can be attached to entities or air.

Types of Trigger[]

  • Pass Through: Activates when Mario passes through the air attached to the trigger.
  • Enemy Pass Through: Activates when an enemy passes through the air attached to the trigger.
  • Block Activated: Activates when a block (such as a Brick Block, ? Block, Note Block, or On/Off Switch) is hit.
  • Block Destroyed: Activates when a block is destroyed.
  • Enemy Killed: Activates when an enemy is killed.
  • Enemy Hit: Activates whenever an enemy is hit, even if they are not killed.

Types of Code[]

Play Note Plays a note of customisable pitch and volume. Play Sound Plays a sound from Super Mario Maker 2.
Play Music Plays music. Stop Music Stops all music.
