Each player gets one character's card and dice, plus a d60 spindown to track health. Each player's spindown is set with 60 facing up. One player is chosed by consensus or dice roll to go first, and play proceeds in the counterclockwise direction.
On a player's turn, they roll their dice to determine their outcome; dice can be rerolled up to 2 extra times if they are not satisfied with their results. Usually, they can damage one (or sometimes more) opponent(s) (reducing their health) or heal themselves.

Trivia[]
Originally, the dice for Teardrop were proper 5-sided dice like Impact Miniatures's. There were some concerns regarding the fairness of these dice, resulting in some tournaments banning them. Some later re-releases of the Teardrop dice were d10s marked with each symbol twice (like Koplow's) ensuring that the dice is fair; these new dice are legal in all tournaments.
