The Sand Kingdom is a desert location featured in Super Mario Odyssey. It is the greater location of Tostarena and appeared as the third kingdom in Super Mario Odyssey. It's main location is Tostarena Town, where many Tostarenans, small skeleton-like creatures that wear sombreros and ponchos, reside. The regional currency is purple pyramids, and the Kingdom's landmark is the Inverted Pyramid.
Information[]
Role in Super Mario Odyssey[]
Mario and Cappy travel to this Kingdom when the Odyssey has enough Power Moons. Here, the Broodals can be found on top of the Inverted Pyramid. After this, the Inverted Pyramid will rise, revealing an icy area called the Underground Temple. Here, Knucklotec. Doing this will melt all the ice in the Sand Kingdom, allowing access to more Power Moons. After this, Mario and Cappy can fly to the Wooded Kingdom or the Lake Kingdom
Currency and Crazy Cap Store[]
There are a total of 100 Sand Kingdom Pyramids in the kingdom to collect. They can be exchanged at the Crazy Cap store that is operated by two Tostarenans in Tostarena Town.
The Inverted Pyramid[]
The Inverted Pyramid is the landmark of the Sand Kingdom. As its name suggests, it is a large, upside-down pyramid. Despite looking unstable, it never topples. Mario and Cappy can travel inside the pyramid to collect Power Moons. In addition, when the Broodals are in the Kingdom, Hariet is battled on top of the pyramid.
Residents and Enemies[]
Tostarenans are the native residents of the Kingdom. They are small, skeletal creatures that wear panchos and sombreros. They can almost always be seen dancing with maracas. Chinchos also appear to be native to the Kingdom, arising at night time. Another character, Jaxi, is a statue-like lion creature that can provide rides around the Sand Kingdom.
Moe-Eyes, small moi statues, and Chinchos, small mummy enemies, appear to be the only enemies native to the Sand Kingdom. Other enemies, such as Goombas, Micro Goombas, Bullet Bills, and Burrbos, also appear, though were likely sent there by Bowser and the Broodals.
