The Cap Kingdom is a gloomy, monochromatic location featured in Super Mario Odyssey. It is the greater location of Bonneton and appeared as the first kingdom in Super Mario Odyssey. It's main landmark is a large tower with a top hat on it, aptly named Top Hat Tower. The regional currency is purple top hats, and its main inhabitants are Bonneters, a race of ghost-like beings who wear caps, with Cappy being a notable Bonneter.
Information[]
Role in Super Mario Odyssey[]
When Bowser knocks Mario off of his airship with his top hat, he stomps on Mario's own hat and shreds it with the airship's propeller as he flies off with Peach. Cappy grabs one of the hat's pieces and flies down to find Mario, who landed in the Cap Kingdom. After meeting, Mario and Cappy join forces to stop Bowser, and travel to the Cascade Kingdom in search of a ship that can take them around the world.
Role in Super Luigi Odyssey[]
The tutorial level. While it takes place in the same kingdom, the location Luigi explores is a bit more different than the route Mario took. As you'd expect, this is where Luigi meets Helmer.
Currency and Crazy Cap Store[]
There are a total of 50 Cap Kingdom Hats in the kingdom to collect. They can be exchanged at the Crazy Cap store that appears that is operated by two Bonneters when Mario returns to the Kingdom, as they operate in the main plaza of Bonneton.
Top Hat Tower[]
The Top Hat Tower is the landmark of the Cap Kingdom, and is a famous tourist location, especially for the view from the tower's brim. Visitors are always welcome inside, but many creatures such as Frogs and Micro Goombas call the tower home, which can be surprising for the first time visitor.
Residents and Enemies[]
Bonneters serve as the main residents of the Cap Kingdom. They are small, ghost-like creatures that have hats for heads. They are quite friendly, if a bit shy. Many Bonneters own airships, but during the events of Super Mario Odyssey, Bowser destroyed all of them.
Frogs are another native species. The Mircro Goombas and Paragoombas may have been stationed there by Bowser after his attack on the kingdom.

Trivia[]
- Much like how most other Kingdoms are based off of real-life locations, the Cap Kingdom appears to be based on England.
- The Cap Kingdom and the Dark Side are the only kingdoms that have no 8-bit segments.
