The Antiorfi are a species in the Boundless Fantendoverse, they're a human-like race that are known for their mimicking abilities which can make it at times difficult to identify one and as such they're sometimes treated with suspicion due to this ability.
Appearance[]
Although the Antiorfi can alter their body colours and texture of their skin tissue they have a fairly regular human-like shape, physically appearing similar to many races of a similar simian-like structure. The natural colouration for the Antiorfi is a very pale white-colour with small black spots that run down the sides of each individual which are denoted as being a sign of age as the number of these spots on each side increases with age. They have yellow sclera with white, luminescent pupils that have been described by some as the most beautiful eyes in the galaxy.
Unlike most human-like species the Antiorfi completely lack any form of a tailbone and as a result have a slightly more upright posture than other human-like species. In general, when not mimicking another species most of the Antiorfi's physical features can be described as rounded.
Culture[]
Although on the Antiorfi homeworld life is fairly regular for the species, outside of it the Antiorfi are considered a suspicious and secretive species. Unlike many space-faring species the Antiorfi are very particular about who is allowed on their planet and to what degree, so much so that all of their diplomatic structures were moved off-world to their orbiting moon to ensure that potential spies wouldn't intrude in their private affairs.
The Antiorfi's history suggests that due to their mimicry nature, there is a great deal of importance put into the trust between two individuals, many of the Antiorfi customs can come off as excessive however to an Antiorfi they represent a strengthening of that bond. Fortunately for most the Antiorfi's mimicry is only a basic form of mimicry and so a simple blood or DNA test can prove one Antiorfi from another. Due to what little is known about Antiorfi technology, the extent of their capabilities in that field is unknown however it is suggested that they have advanced medical technology on account of their ability to perform confirmation checks on Antiorfi within seconds in what can otherwise be a somewhat time consuming endeavour.
Most Antiorfi who do not stay with the homeworld often end up as stellar vagrants, wandering the galaxy searching for work, although it is not unheard of for an Antiorfi to manage to mingle with other societies, there is a reason why the Antiorfi have a wholly separate population that simply wanders the galaxy in large stasis ships looking for quick work and quick pay and prefer to go about on their own.
Abilities[]
The Antiorfi are most well-known for their mimicry, similar to the terran Octopus they're capable of not only changing the colour of their body but also the texture, allowing them to take on some of the physical traits of other human-like races. The Antiorfi's form of mimicry however is a wholly biological one and unlike true shapeshifters does not work on species that diverge significantly in appearance from an Antiorfi and does not hold up to blood or DNA tests.
Beyond this the Antiorfi are on about par with humans in terms of physical strength, although due to the training the many Antiorfi undergo in their youth they are generally more experienced from a younger age although can easily lose this experience if they do not continue training.
History in the Fantendoverse[]
For a species that is capable of a moderate form of mimicry it is no surprise that the Antiorfi are looked at historically with doubt and suspicion. In general the Antiorfi avoid being overly confrontational, for as much as their secrecy would suggest advanced technology, the few skirmishes their spaceships have been involved in would suggest they're no more advanced than any other space-faring species and may be even less so.
One of the most major aspects of Antiorfi history is the persecution they faced from other species who would not permit them to trade or have stronger diplomatic ties, many of the older space-faring species do still hold this suspicion as the anti-social behaviour of the Antiorfi species on the galactic stage has not helped with their image.
