Mercenaries are individuals who specialize in physical combat.
Overview[]
Mercenaries are enforcers for hire. Like Mages, they are also affiliated with a Guild, where they can take on Jobs as a source of personal income. However, Mercenaries are not above working immoral jobs, going as far as killing those under the client's request or acting as bodyguards even for criminals guilty of committing serious crimes, making money at the expense of ethics. They're loyal to their clients for the right price, should it be for good or evil purposes, even if they recognize the clients themselves as immoral or outright vile.[1][2] Mercenaries are also hired soldiers for times of war, being enlisted for extra strength in numbers for either side. During these times, Mage guilds were also allowed to take mercenary jobs, but because of the excess amount of casualties they brought onto the battlefield, the Magical world has since banned wars between guilds for any reason.[3]
Abilities[]
Unlike Mages, Mercenaries don't rely on Magic, instead they put more focus on improving and maintaining enhanced physical abilities. Therefore, they primarily undergo intense training to improve their natural combat skills and intellect, being more physically stronger, faster and tactically gifted than most mages, as Magic focuses more on mental training.[4] Besides their martial arts, some Mercenaries also use non-magical weapons. Some even specialize in martial arts and weapons specifically meant to counter Magic users.[5]
